real talk i hate the word ministrations in modern / futuristic era fic unless it’s used ironically. like jesus that word belongs in the 18th century and earlier, or at least in the thoughts of characters with old souls. super cringey to me otherwise. like that’s a word i associate with nathaniel hawthorne vibes. y’all fic writers want me thinking about hawthorne while reading your modern / futuristic era fics? if you do, goal accomplished.

If I'm reading a sex scene I'll stop taking it seriously if the word "ministrations" is used at any point, but not for the reason you might think

I just keep misreading "ministrations" as "minestrone"

Even when I don't I think of the times I misread it as "minestrone"

And then I'm not really in the mood for smut anymore, I'm in the mood for eating minestrone
