From the traveling exhibit “Egypt’s Sunken Cities” which is currently on view at the Minneapolis Institute of Art (@ArtsMia). A must-see show if it makes a stop in your area. Pictured is a statue of “Taweret”, the hippo-headed goddess of fertility. It was my favorite piece in the exhibit because of my fascination with the cross-cultural phenomenon of fanciful hybrid animal deities in religion and lore. ⁣
