Oh, my heart! I am really excited about this PROFILE of *yours truly* in the latest issue of LAKE COUNTRY JOURNAL. @lcjmagazine For those of you who don’t know, LAKE COUNTRY JOURNAL is a *very* beautiful magazine from and about “Lake Country,” which in this case is central and northern Minnesota (although I know parts of Wisconsin and Canada are also part of the same landscape.) Now, anyone who’s ever talked with me after I’ve just gotten off the phone with family or who’s heard me say a few specific words (route, boots, SAG, or colloquialisms like “Oof duh” and “peppermint bon bon”) (and by the way, *peppermint bon bon* is a MUCH more fun way to say the name of my personal favorite ice cream) knows that I grew up in Minnesota!! I have a deep love and affection for my home state, especially the forests and lakes of central & northern Minnesota. I try to get to my favorite haunts at least every couple years. It’s as if dear old Mother Earth calls to me from that place, and when I am there, I feel a sense of peace unlike anywhere else. I guess that’s called HOME. So now you understand why I am SO VERY THRILLED that Emilee Mae Struss, editor of the LCJ and journalist, wrote this wonderful profile of me and my connection to this beautiful part of the world. For me, it’s about my family and the deep love that exists between us. As a grown woman, I realize now how very lucky I was and am to have such loving people in my life. It’s about the beauty of the land and the sense of ritual and meaning that four seasons give me (harder to come by here in Southern CA!) It’s about the people, and although I know the last few years have exposed aspects of our complicated relationship with the differences between us… I believe, deep down, most of us all want mainly the same things in life. Love, safety for ourselves and our families, the opportunity to live out our destinies, joy.
