My favorite drawings from Minnie Small’s “[Houses] and those who haunt them” Inktober series
Went to the gym today and came back and did some drawing. I got inspired by Minnie Small, her youtube channel is amazing! She did a 30 day draw something challenge which I thought was such a good idea to do especially know in the summer.
As an architecture major with meh drawing skills, I think it's something I can definitely use all the practice I can get.

Quitting My Job to Be a Full Time Artist · The Under-Painting #4 · semiskimmedmin 30 March 2019 - So you gotta be working...
A detour from the heads drawing challenge is the topic of having to work but your job is not the art you’re doing. In the months after I’d quit the door to door sales role and after I’d had that clicking moment watching Charlie Lewis’ video, I started to binge watching videos from other illustrators posting on YouTube - as many as possible; like when you go to the supermarket hungry and you grab as much food as possible. Minnie Small is another UK YouTuber I came across and it’s extremely soothing to put her videos on in the background and draw. She makes longer videos talking about her art progress and also her experiences in becoming an illustrator.
In this video she talks in more detail about her experience along the way with art and drawing, from when she was still studying her A-Levels (equivalent to AP courses in the US?), her time at university, leaving university and her first few jobs.
Because I feel I’m basically her or in her situation but a few years behind, I really like this video because it does reassure some of the worries of am I being too slow with my progress? Do I need to full time art now? etc... In particular she does mention to not quit your current work to suddenly go into art, to build up them savings first (enough to cover a solid three months of your bills) before going the full time art route provided you have your artwork in place to be a source of income. So this is where I am now, working away to save, but fitting in art in the mornings before work, art in the evenings after work or art on the days off. If you’re in a similar position, you should too and don’t feel guilty about I’m not working as intensely as some other illustrators who just full time art...as long as I do some kind of drawing every day, I count it as a small win and as chipping away at the goal. :)
P.S: It’s why before I would have stressed over not doing the 100HeadsChallenge in 10 days and but now even if it takes longer than that, I okay with that.
