Hen & Buck T-Shot fic snippet <3
/ tw: needles/shots ! dysphoria mentions
Chim: We're barely 5 hours into the shift and we've been out for pretty much all of it, what's going on?
Hen: The solar eclipse is probably at fault.
Harry: That was today?
Ravi: How did we miss it?
Hen: Only a couple of states will be able to see it and only partially. It's mainly visible from Greenland, Spain and Portugal.
Buck: If you thought full moon shifts were bad welcome to solar eclipse madness.
Eddie: There's nothing special or supernatural about the full moon or eclipses.
Hen: We also had 6 planets visible before sunrise today and I think a meteor shower later tonight.
Buck: It's like the universe loves proving Eddie wrong.
Chim: I don't think we have enough anti jinx rituals to survive. We need the help of the "I'm a little stitious" group chat to get through this day.
Buck: I'll get Maddie.
Hen: I'll call Josh.
Chim: Share your findings in the group chat and hope for the best.

All about my 911 Zine!!!
I made a 911 zine during the hiatus this year. I've been in the fandom for about a year now and I also write fanfic and make edits. But there's something about making a thing you're able to hold in your hand that's really satisfying. I guess I just wanted to come on here and explain my artistic choices lol.
Here goes,
First Page
This one was super fun to do! I have a bunch of old dum dum wrappers in my collage stuff that I had laying around, and I also wanted to do a character introduction sort of page but trying to make it look interesting was hard. The lollipop wrappers honestly made the page. I picked out a color that I felt like corresponded to each character and then that was sort of their "background" color. So Chim=cream soda, Maddie=strawberry, Hen=grape, Buck-peach, Eddie=orange, Athena=sour apple, and Bobby=cotton candy. I also cut out little hearts from each of their colors and put it on the title page. The little lyrics that are on the first page is from the song "Colorful Collage" by Grady Strange, which I just feel like encapsulates the 118 really well.
Second Page
This page was supposed to be more focused on the 118 as a family and not individual characters, so I printed out a bunch of group pics and added those. On the left side I glued part of a cut out index card to the page and wrote the quote "the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb" on it (that's the text in pink). I also added songs that I thought corresponded to the cour four + bobby. For Eddie I picked "Fighter" by Gym Class Heroes. Buck got gold star by Quinnie. Bobby got Chasing the Light by Mat Kearney, Chimney got My Body by Young the Giant, and Hen got Los Angeles by Big Thief. I also wrote "The scooby gang" on the left side because everyone was calling them that after 9x16 and I thought it was super cute. On the top right corner, I wrote "Stubborn love" because it represents their bond as a family really well, and it's also a really good song by the Lumineers. I also wrote "it's never over" mostly because I keep seeing edits of 911 to the Jeff Buckley song (haha). The little cutout words are more lyrics from Colorful Collage, and then the words written on the bottom of the right page are just more lyrics that I think represent the 118 well.
Third Page
This was my absolute favorite page to do. I think tables kind of represent the family that was created within the 118. And there's something about how the first(?) time we saw the 118 fam eating together in season 9 was in 9x15 where they were all at Buck's dining room table. Then I started thinking about the "chain of command" thing that Eddie keeps referencing. I've seen a lot of analysis on the chain of command quote on here, but the basic idea is that when it works it's what keeps you alive, especially in this type of job, and especially for the 118, who look out for each other like a family would. So I wanted to juxtapose the chain of command with the imagery of the table in the show. And I thought that adding in the little "congrats! you used ___" would be fun too.
Fourth Page
I designed this page mostly so that I could use that 9x18 still, because I thought it was super cinematic and would look good on the zine page. I also wanted to do something with the song "Heroes" by David Bowie because it's a really apt song for this show. And then I kind of just needed something to put on the bottom, which is why I put the wedding photo there lol. I also don't have a good reason as to why I used those specific colors, I just had the pens laying around.
Fifth Page
This one was the last one I worked on, and I couldn't figure out what to put on that left side, so I just listed a bunch of songs that made me think of the show, and then the right side is a bunch of group pictures. The little cutout words are lyrics from comfort crowd by Conan Gray.
thanks for coming to my ted talk.
