Wer sich demnächst einen neuen Computer (PC / Schleppkasten) zulegen will, wird erstaunt feststellen: kein DVD-Laufwerk (-Brenner!) mehr an Bord! Ging mir zuletzt bei meinem HP-Laptop so… Abhilfe: USB-Sticks! Nur, nicht jeder hat schon mal einen USB-Stick „bootfahig“ gemacht. Es gibt natürlich (Linux like) zahlreiche Möglichkeiten (Unetbootin, etc.) dafür im Angebot. Auch Linux Mint hat seine eigene Lösung bereits dabei: „Mintstick“ - lauffähig auf allen Ubuntu- & Debian-Derivaten…

🇬🇧 Anyone who wants to buy a new computer (PC/laptop) soon will be amazed: no DVD drive (burner!) anymore on board! Last time I went to my HP laptop... Remedy: USB sticks! Only, not everyone has ever made a USB stick "bootable." There are of course (Linux like) numerous possibilities (Unetbootin, etc.) for this in the offer. Linux Mint already has its own solution: "Mintstick" - running on all Ubuntu- & Debian derivatives...

Instalando o MintStick no Debian

O Mintstick é uma ferramenta desenvolvida para a distribuição Linux Mint. Se você já usou a distro, por um prazo razoável de tempo, possivelmente já usou o Mintstick para formatar ou gravar imagens linux no pendrive. O Mintstick é uma ferramenta bem simples de usar, mesmo a interface gráfica é simples. Muitos utilizam o Gparted para formatar seus pendrivers, e o Mintstick é bem mais prático, rápido e eficiente para formatar ou gravar uma imagem.

E apesar de ser uma ferramenta desenvolvida para o Linux Mint, é naturalmente possível instalar em outras distribuições sem complicações, incluindo o Debian.

Vantagens de usar MintStick:

– Interface leve e simples. – Formata e grava img ou iso no pendrive. – Suporte a formatos FAT32, NTFS e EXT4. – Velocidade de formatação e gravação consideravelmente rápido

Instalando

Para instalar o MintStick é só baixar o pacote .deb aqui e depois de baixar dar um duplo clique no arquivo, essa ação abrirá o GDebi, basta clicar em instalar.

Obs.: Se não tiver o GDebi instalado use o Synaptic.

I need to download Linux Mint and make it so that it can be installed straight from a flashdrive. I'm going to have my computer boot from the flashdrive and I need it to install without me needing to mount anything etc because I currently have no OS on my computer. I read mintStick is the best way to do that but I can't figure out how to work it. I find instructions but they don't say which download they used so I can't find any instructions which work with the downloads of Linux I've used. Can anyone direct me to a link which has Linux Mint and mintStick and maybe instructions?
