in terms of de skills and thoughts, do you have a favorite build/characterization for harry? also bc i'm curious (and sorry if i articulate this weird), what's your opinions on the potential skill maps of other characters in the game; do you think everyone has some of the same skills as harry and some different, everyone's skill map is entirely unique and reflective of them, or smthin else ?? if you've given that any thought ofc
I keep meaning to answer this and literally everything keeps happening to me constantly 😭 lets see if I can actually sit down and write this out cause I KNOW its gonna get long
shortest answer possible, I definitely 100% have a favorite skillset for Harry and its pscyhe
my favorite characters and ocs will always have some sort of deep empathy to them (PARTICULARLY if its troublesome for them in some way) because its such a core way of how I experience life. I immediately went psyche for my first playthru and I cant imagine playing any other way <3 not even to mention volition & EDC which are also incredibly beloved to me as skills/characters
the story of Disco Elysium with an overtly empathetic Harry makes the most sense to me personally ... Ive had my own struggles in learning how to manage how much of upsetting events I can expose myself to and emotionally burning out over it. in a way I had my own Martinaise event where life circumstances hurt so much that I stopped caring, started dissociating, and lost huge parts of my memory of that time. seeing that reflected so realistically in this fucking. detective game?? with supernatural amnesia?? comforting in a way I cant even explain
Ive thought so so much about the other characters having their own sets of skills (mostly my own ocs) ever since I saw someone's own custom set a year or so ago but I really struggle to define emotions! even in poetic ways. so even now I dont really have a skillset in mind for anyone ...
I do think everyone is unique, but with lots of overlap with the "basic" set Harry has. its the same principles - what makes a person tick? how do they view and interact with the world? youre going to get the same kind of things, generally. how someone conceptualizes art, language, society, behavior, life, politics. what keeps them going day in and out. its something I SUPER badly want to get better at for my own characters, I think it would help me understand their motivations better at a fundamental level
the one really solid skill Ive come up with is for Travart -- Paredolia! based off my own experience of being really sensitive to stimuli in general with the disco-specific supernatural twist of Shivers :] im very fond of it
