RyuMako for the AU ask; Ryuko undergoing a cardiac stress test
Give me an AU and I’ll give you 5 headcanons!
Homg that was f a s t thanks?? Ok well I have no idea how many of these actually qualify as headcanons but here goes, real off the cuff:
Ryuko tries to do something to calm down before the test bc she’s heard about the whole “getting more stressed in medical situations for no reason” thing (even though she’ll be physically stressed but GO FIGURE)
Mako isn’t helping bc she’s all excited??? Like clearly, it’s a battle, and her GF will triumph. “Fight, Ryuko-chan, fight! And then we’ll go get ice cream!!!”
Ryuko hates the sticky sensor thingies am I even thinking of the right test lmao and meanwhile Mako wants to keep poking at them bc she’s fascinated (which makes Ryuko feel better, like, wow she’s so effing cute??)
But she does convince Mako to wait outside the room for the actual test (she needs to, uh, concentrate). Mako’s all “yes you need the space to fight properly” “thats.... really not what I’m gonna do but ok”
But then!! She legit nearly sets the stationary bike on fire at the highest level, like by that point she’s switched over to I’m Gonna Win mode despite telling Mako otherwise. And she completed the test with flying colors and leaves awed techs in her wake.
Bonus: Mako tackles her when she comes back. “You beat them, right? You showed them how strong you are, right?!”
“I sure did!!”
If Mako notices Ryuko leaning on her a bit heavily (her legs are a bit jellied), she doesn’t say anything.
