Our Peacekeeping mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) began an operation to dislodge armed groups from Bangassou, epicentre of last week’s wave of violence which resulted in the killing of three United Nations peacekeepers and the displacement of over 2,000 people. MINUSCA deployed temporary operating bases in strategic locations within the town and is conducting robust patrols to re-establish a safe environment and allow people to return to their homes. The Mission reinforced its presence in Bangassou last week with troops from Bangladesh and Gabon.

Today, Mission des Nations Unies au Mali - MINUSMA continues to enforce its mandate and offers support to the political process focusing its efforts on the disarmament process of armed groups.
In addition, the Mission facilitates humanitarian assistance, promotes human rights and works to strengthen national justice and rule of law institutions.

Peacekeeping works!
