The Air Force conducts regular tests of its Minuteman III ICBMs, as it looks for ways to bring costs under control for the successor Sentinel missile.
The unarmed Minuteman III flew 4,200 miles from California's Vandenberg Space Force Base to a ballistic missile test site in the Marshall Islands.
It will be the second test in less than a month, after another launch was delayed to lower tension with China over Taiwan.
