mingyu never wears a damn coat
“I’m stupid, I’m stupid, I’m so stupid.” Mingyu chanted to himself, like a mantra as he walked home. Just that morning, before Wonwoo, left the elder had been nagging Mingyu to wear a coat but the younger had just brushed him off; it wasn’t even winter yet! So here he was, walking home in the cold with no coat. In his defence he would have argued that it wasn’t as cold when he left but he had also forgotten how it started to get darker earlier at night now but now he was stuck walking in the dark with no coat. He could call Wonwoo, he thought, but I don’t want to look like an idiot again. Emphasis on again. Only the day before, Wonwoo had scolded him for leaving the oven on after cooking and the day before that had to stop him from crossing the road without checking for cars. Mingyu tended to forget things or didn’t think properly but he couldn’t help it; he had other things to think about.
As Mingyu continued walking, he could feel the cold biting at his skin and the dramatic part of his brain told him ‘This is it, we’re never experiencing warmth again.’. He wrapped his arms around himself to try and keep whatever warmth he had left, telling himself that he didn’t have far left to walk. So what if it was dark? Nobody would come near him, he could intimidate them if he wanted to. As soon as he had that thought he could hear Seungcheol’s laugh in his head “You?” Seungcheol would have said “You’re an overgrown teddy bear, you dumbass.”. Smiling at the thought, he began to pick up his pace. Maybe if he got home quick enough, Seungcheol would be home too and the eldest always knew how to cheer Mingyu up.
Most of all, he hoped Wonwoo would be home. Wonwoo with his comforting laugh, who always teased Mingyu but he knew he only did it out of affection. Man, how he missed Wonwoo while he’d been out. It had only been a few hours but Mingyu always missed Wonwoo while they were apart, maybe that made him clingy but Mingyu couldn’t find it within him to care.
It seemed like a lifetime later but Mingyu finally arrived at the front door and just let himself him. “H-hello?” he called as he entered, aware of his teeth chattering.
“Mingyu?” he heard Seungcheol reply. “You look freezing! Why aren’t you wearing a coat? What were you thinking? Wonwoo, come here!”.
Mingyu barely had time to process anything Seungcheol said, only muttering a small “I’m cold.”. Seungcheol just clicked his tongue in response as Wonwoo suddenly seemed to appear.
“Mingyu! I told you to wear a coat, you idiot!” he chastised him. “Hyung, can you go get him a blanket or something?” he asked.
Seungcheol nodded and left, meanwhile Wonwoo grabbed Mingyu’s hands and pulled him to the sofa, noting how the younger felt like ice. He could see how he was shivering and began to stroke his hands and arms to make him feel warm, feeling his stomach flip as Mingyu looked up at him with those stupid puppy eyes
“I’m sorry I didn’t listen.” Mingyu pouted, prompting Wonwoo to sigh fondly.
“When do you ever listen you big baby?” Wonwoo teased and pulled him closer. Mingyu began to nuzzle his nose into Wonwoo’s neck and if his cold nose bothered him then Wonwoo didn’t mention it.
