Gashadokuro and Akira?

They're partners. They are, indubitably, a Duo. Their personalities mesh well together and they both are great at psychological warfare (i'll elaborate Gasha's fighting style in the next ask). So it is natural that for Duo Work they are a pair (just like how Kana and Junko are a pair, despite the fact that Kana does not like Junko). They are work associates, they are "colleagues".

For OBVIOUS REASONS, Gashadokuro wishes for this relationship to stay that way. But Akira finds Gashadokuro to be fascinating and wants to know more about her. Especially Naginata, to whom she calls "more than a best friend" when no one hears them.

Akira respects Gashadokuro's privacy and boundary. But she loves to tease and attempt to know more. It is difficult but Akira, being a great listener and speaker, likes a good challenge.

Also Akira cares not what's under the mask, to her the mask is basically "who the person is".

Also Akira has a good relationship with the alters. HOWEVER, Gunbai Gasha and her have a catastrophic BEEF it's unreal. Real Housewives of Youkai Yakuza type of beef.

how silly are we allowed to get with it? is some Danganronpa Typical backstory weirdness to be expected here that require (i.e things that couldn't or don't exist in real life but do 'because ultimates', technological advancements, etc.) basically, what's ~approximately the limit on Suspension of Disbelief for DR-typical wacky backstory stuff?

Hi there! Great question!

We're seeking a more grounded approach. The world will indeed have high levels of technology! Characters will still have to be human, however. (Unfortunately, this means no robots)

They are ultimates and they are very much "the best of the best", but will still be expected to practice and hone their craft. The regimen at Toshiaki is quite demanding! Characters will not be able to bumble through school.

There's a balance to be found as you're quite right that the world in Danganronpa can be pretty wacky. We would say that (outside of the above) things are pretty flexible so long as the character is believable and any 'weirdness' is justified in a reasonable manner.
