Tomatoes tried to kill me but banjos saved my life.
This was our first show of the season. We were excited to dive in. Keith Alessi isn't kidding when he tells you tomatoes tried to kill him. They really did and he's not out of the woods yet but he's headed in the right direction. I found myself doing calculations in my head trying to guess how long it's been since his cancer diagnosis. I'm really hoping he beats those nasty odds he kept mentioning. Anyone touched by cancer will find that this show resonates. Keith is just a guy with a banjo and true heartfelt story. He's new to the whole fringe thing and he's finding his way while hoping to make emotional connections with his audience. And it certainly seems like he's been able to accomplish that. He told us afterwards that he applied for 5 fringes and he got into 4 so he's a pretty busy guy. I'm really hoping he keeps beating the odds. Just a guy with a banjo!
