saw someone on campus with this shirt and nearly fell to my knees. what do u mean it exists outside my tumblr dash 😭
LMAOOOOO and such an ugly shirt too 🗿I want to own spn merch besides my cherished model figure of the impala but it is all hideous
do u think tumblr and maybe spn tumblr in general makes ur mental health plummet or is the stupidity sort of carthartic at this rate 😭
maybe a combo of both lmao. sometimes it’s deeply painful and frustrating and sometimes I’m mostly enjoying countering ppl’s bad takes bc metacommentary is a genuine passion of mine and getting this many opportunities to flex that muscle probably makes me a more thoughtful writer and reader overall. or at least I hope it does 🤪
hi! unfortunately not a request ask but was wondering if you’d share your typical writing process when u get prompts and stuff. do you outline? world build around your characters first? talk out ideas with others etc etc
- sincerely a writer who has no process and therefore finds herself lost once writing the idea ensues jshdjsjs
Hey, no worries! I'm always happy to answer questions :)
when it comes to writing something for a prompt like on here, it's always hurry up and wait for me. I have to be in the right mood to write, and sometimes, days go by without getting into the right mindset. It's frustrating, because I feel bad about not answering the prompt, well, promptly, but forced/rushed writing is never good, so I've learned to deal with it.
when the mood strikes, and i'm able to sit down and write, i'll usually start by brainstorming the general direction i want the piece to go. general plot points, specific ideas i really want to get down in the piece, etc. then, i just. write.
pen to paper/fingers to keyboard, write. factor in the points i wanted to add as i go.
my writing usually ends up being done in one sitting, because im afraid if i break it up, i'll either never finish it, or it'll be so disjointed i hate how it flows.
sorry if this didn't really answer your question, but it's how i write!
do you have any advice on how not to scream and cry and throw up upon reflecting about your writing and how it’s oh so terrible when you compare it to others… or maybe just how you don’t cry Too much
i somehow am only now seeing this
i feel like that every day of my life except when im in the middle of a crazy writing spree so i Understand
my advice is to interrupt that spiral every time until it becomes habit bc of COURSE you as a writer are gonna feel insecure whenever someone else's work deeply affects you. you're peers and you want to be able to elicit the reaction that You're having to someone else's work in other people but it's impossible to really tell whether you're doing that bc you can't read ppl's minds lol.
one of the main things i tell myself to stop envy from eating me alive is that: no, i don't actually "wish i could write like this" because that's not me - it's them. truly believe your writing style is something so specific to you and your experiences and your inspirations and that for every defining characteristic of someone else's writing style you adore there is something just as iconic abt your own writing that a reader would be able to point out to you. (not that i could tell you what mine are... but that's kind of the whole deal)
above all else: don't ever let the insecurity stop you from trying!!!! i've been writing since i was like 6 years old and im prob gonna be doing it until i die and hopefully i'll have figured out how to jump the hurdle of Writing An Original Fiction Novel before then.
i love your nancy drew fics!!!!! i’m on only s2 but you’ve unlocked the ace hardy writing compartment in my brain thanks to your amazing characterization of him. thank u for your contributions! :D
omg this makes me so happy. i have so much love in my heart for that funky fellow. getting into his narrative flow is so peaceful. i hope when you write him you post it for all to enjoy!
s2 is so golden, have a fantastic time
