[ 錯覚 ] ― for only answer a passing glance, wistfulness ECLIPSED by severe eyes. kanda stops in his tracks, looks to the man once more; combs over his features to decipher a purpose. they are not BROTHERS in this war; why then so genuine this care, this reach for comradery? ‘tis not simply politeness he finds in aleister’s face. ≺ …hm. ≻ home. a concept alien to the swordsman. he cannot grasp this yearning for comfort, for safety, for friendship. what use is there to build what will be undone? oh, poor boy who knows only RUIN. ≺ don’t waste your breath like this. ≻
HE SHOULD HAVE COME TO EXPECT SUCH A REACTION FROM HIS COLLEAGUE, IN TRUTH. compassion and benevolence do not course through his veins so much as anger and fortitude, a certain sense of stoicism that krory himself could only ever aspire to achieve ( if he desired to, and the simple fact remained that no, he did not, regardless of the pain he’d endured thus far ). he might consider the two of them brothers-in-arms, ----- he might consider the swordsman, and all those he fights alongside in their order, friends, family, something to be protected ----- but the look in the others’ eyes tells a different story. if there’s some underlying understanding there, krory cannot detect it. and this makes his own smile ( already worn with worry and uncertainty, and for this very reason! ) falter, if only momentarily. but there’s something within himself that won’t allow for the acceptance of defeat. nor for the nagging crestfallen feeling that threatens to surface.
so he persists, hands clasped tightly together, wringing subconsciously. “ it’s not a ‘waste’, kanda ---------- y - you’ve been away on missions for some time, after all! i thought it would only be right to ... ----- “

" All right, that’s enough weird questions. Go to sleep. "
Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ – She likens her body to lead; heavy, immovable -- it agitates her, and she has informed everyone in the immediate area with ceaseless sour looks. Lenalee has always loathed being bound to a bed. Her freedom, what little she has managed to retain, is something that she treasures. And it’s gone. Temporary though her condition may be, she is feeling irritable, and has taken to lashing out unconsciously.
Kanda is an unanticipated visitor. To see him darkening the doorway of the infirmary piques her curiosity, and she awaits his approach to her bedside with questions already at rest on the tip of her tongue. He has been away for quite some time, weeks, she knows for certain, though exactly how long is a mystery to her. Her admission into the infirmary is more recent, but she still feels as though she’s been here too long. There are others that will undoubtedly need this bed in the near future. There always are.
Having had no other company to entertain her (or rather, update her on the goings on of the order outside of this tiny room that she refers to oh so fondly as a prison), she attempts to acquire as much information from him as possible. Though asking things of Kanda is the equivalent to pulling teeth. Soon, he grows tired of her (less than eloquent; she’s drifting in and out of consciousness) interrogation, and orders her to sleep. She wants to protest. She wants to argue that she is not in any way tired, and is perfectly capable of deciding her own sleep schedule -- but a yawn interrupts her thought process.
Glaring blearily at his blurred form seated by her bedside, she turns her head childishly in an attempt to snub him for so rudely ordering her around. “Fine. I’ll sleep. But you have to promise to,” a yawn. “visit again soon, alright? Then you can help me break out of this room. You’re the only one I can trust, Kanda.” As his name falls from rose hued lips, violet orbs flutter shut, and sweet darkness engulfs her consciousness.
