dont mind me just spitballin but I cant do it quietly and by myself like a normal person
Tryna think of a new story for my old ranger, and best I've got is hes now an ex-warden, oc mordrem. Was generally pretty cheeky and a fun loving guy who enjoyed his job til the shadow attacked, he just wanted to stay a warden, no pact for him, and then the voice hit. And it started to sway him. He fled the Grove one day in a wild sprint, hell bent on getting as far from away as possible before he turned and just,,, hasn't been back. Everyone guessed what happened, friends saw the small changes. The irritability, everything. And just assumed he died in the jungle.
He hasn't returned, and now writes books and stays away from wardens. He doesnt want to be recognized. Hes bitter, angry now. Heavily traumatized and prone to fits of emotion he doesnt fully understand.
For the class, I'm trying to tie it in. I immediately went to therapy animal, but that feels too obvious, and, as an Ox Mordrem. I do see him as someone bulky, and more of a tank - like wielding a shield and a mace. Which arent exactly ranger weapons. So might just... yeet an old lvl 80 character and choose warrior or rev but idk. I'm kinda flat on ideas.
More budget halloween outfits ft. Black Knight Fionhuine, Bllodsotne-corrupted... thing?? Albuinn, Nightmare/Xanthium inspired Bairnwen, and nightmare Mirfirth
So it was my ranger seaweed Mifirth’s birthday last friday and I don’t have any transmutation charges to put him in fancy clothes so decided to doodle him and his poochies (Barkclays and yet to be named wolf)
I was gonna do a background but nah the fear for results day kicked in
Character asks! 13, 15, 16, 18 & 20 for Mirfirth and 1, 21, 26, 31 and 38 for Bairnwen! :)
hOO BOY just gonna shove this under a read more because I’m gonna blab and it’s gonna be chaos (thank you for the questions!!)
For the seaweed
Does your character have anyone that they really care about, to the point that they would give their life for them? If so, who are they and what is your character’s relation to them? If not, do they wish they did? Is there anyone they wish they could build such a relationship with?
Mirfirth fears death above all else, the sylvari mentality of ‘do not fear death it’s a new experience’ didn’t get passed to him and he fears it above all else. It’s actually a massive fear of his that a situation will arise where he will be unable to face death to protect someone he loves, so he does wish he could be that brave and selfless, particularly for his animals (especially Barkclays) and his siblings. He holds no individual higher than his siblings and his favourite hound and fears he will be unable to protect them
Does your character have a deep and/or dark secret? If so, what is it?
Mirfirth is actually really worried he’ll loose everyone, be a disappointment (see above for an example) and that he’ll be forgotten. In his eyes his siblings (lil shit doesn’t get out much can you tell?) are all so brave and selfless and fear practically nothing and everyone around the world is like that and he can’t do any of that so he’s worried he’s too weak. (He’s seen his siblings be ‘weak’ or have moments but he doesn’t think of them as moments)
What is their aspiration? Their goal? Their purpose? What makes them want to wake up everyday and keep on going?
Honestly Mifirth doesn’t have one (he’s a happy lil guy I swear). He doesn’t feel the need to have a goal and tends to look at each day as an opportunity to just have fun - the closest thing he has to a purpose are his animals because he freaking loves them and secretly spoils them utterly rotten.. and his siblings (ya noticing a theme here?)
Does your character believe the ends justify the means? No matter who they have to step on to reach their goals?
For ‘Firth it depends upon the situation - but generally he’s against that mentality and has a deep loathing for those who walk all over the ‘little people’ to get their way. He may understand and sympathize with someone’s reasons but he’ll still despise them
How would your character define love?
Mirfirth’s definition of love would probably be “wanting that person to be near you and yet also wanting them to be alive more than you” - if that makes sense. To him seeing someone he loves happy and living their life is the ultimate goal - due to his fear of death, he would also include the mentality of “if you can give your life p for them within hesitation ten you love them” but that’s just how he would define it as ‘wanting an individual to live more than you do’...
Omfg I made the lil shit a dark tiny thing I swear he’s not as dark as I’ve made him seem oml
And now the flammable flaming twig
What’s one experience your character had that made them very afraid?
Most things are water off a ducks back to Bairnwen, although she’s had certain instances where she’s nearly keeled over from fright. Mainly whenever her older sibling (my canon commander when I actually freaking make them) goes off to a dangerous battle and she can’t be there to help - and most recently just Albuinn in Magumma is a constant heart attack for her because that’s her baby brother and even she wouldn’t step in the jungle and now he lives there? Nope nadda she needs to burn everything in there first fuck that.
Personal experience wise nightmare court were originally her worst nightmare but that’s recently changed to Mordrem so basically anything that can corrupt her race is a big fat nope.
How does your character decide if a person is mature or not?
Bairnwen mainly goes off of intuition and her opinion develops from there - she’s generally not too bothered either way and doesn’t feel a need to really fuss over how mature a person is. In certain situations she may react towards them depending upon it but she’s very ‘what’s happening now, matter’s now’
Has your character ever been hurt or betrayed by someone they thought they could depend on? What happened?
White Stag story flashing across my eyes ;A;
Bairnwen doesn’t usually stick around that long for someone to betray her - although she’s had a few people get nasty with her and stop interacting with her - which she becomes sullen around them and very ‘meek’ almost? She’s encountered people she once trusted who are now turned to ‘another side’ and she’s more aggressive if they come to blows but /shrug/ it’s not happened yet.
(Gonna just screw my own canon over here and talk bout the White Stag betrayal story because I wanna explore how Bairnwen /does/ actually react to betray but the story ain’t canon to me (I’m thinking about making it canon but idk - it may become canon idk
- she reacted very harshly especially during the duel with the person that betrayed her, she had no sympathy towards him and just let rip with her anger. If ti were canon, she wouldn't talk about it at all with anyone because after all that’d been done she genuinely thought about the Court’s ideals and was worried she’d turn, becoming more vicious towards the court in general. She also felt a deep sorry and anger over what had happened and constantly second guesses over what she could have done)
How patient is your character with others? Do they find it easy to handle people that try and bug them, or hard?
Bairnwen’s actually pretty patient. While she is generally a wild card and very all over the place she’s learnt when to be actually mature and slow down for people when they need it (Older sibling to six other siblings has taught her some skills). However in the instance of someone annoying her she merely takes it as a challenge and is twice as annoying as before - unless they’re actually making her mad in which case she just flat out blows up at them
Have they ever had to hurt someone else, physically or mentally, to save themselves or another person? Were they the same after the incident, or did it change them?
Due to the fact she’s a ‘battle mage’ with more protective instinct than you can shake a leaf at (ayyyy) she has been in situations were she has had to defend herself or others. Bairnwen’s usually not one to attack mentally - she’s all about physical and will usually do at least enough to ward something off, depending upon her emotional investment on the situation.
After her first time she was actually pretty okay - as far as she’s concerned she did what she had to do. She does have moments of doubt as whether or not she’s doing the right thing but she tends not to try to focus on them too much.
