I don't know why it is, but I just don't tend to get as much into my F/F ships as I do my M/M or M/F ships, sadly.

But when I do for once, it just has to be a ship that has no fanfics, no fan content, no discussion about it, and I've never seen anyone ship it except me.

Spoilers for Mystic Messenger - Rika's Behind Story, Secret endings and/or Another Story. (if you don't mind spoilers for Rika's Behind Story, it's fine if you only did the Secret ending or you only did Another Story.)

I suppose not many people come to the Mystic Messenger fandom for yuri, and I know no one comes to the Mystic Messenger fandom to explore side characters we know little about (I feel like there's next to no fanfic of anyone aside from the main cast (Vanderwood being an exception)), but...

MiRika is everything

MiRika can be anything. It's childhood friends to lovers for sure, but what more can it be?

Do you take Rika's behind story as it was told? Amazing toxic yuri. The toxicity is high. Mika is manipulating Rika against her boyfriend, suggesting she starts her cult, supporting her worst traits, being all sweet and calling back to their childhood connection while also subtly undermining her. Add romantic feelings or just lust and that's quite a mix. Just... Imagine the situation of Mika calling Rika things like "my beloved sister" while seducing her, and such.

Do you subscribe to the "Mika telling Rika to start Mint Eye was a hallucination, last time we actually saw Mika was in the hospital" theory? (which I do, because otherwise Mika just mainly feels like a copout to me) Doomed yuri. A girl that once meant so much to Rika, who she hasn't seen in a decade, in her father's hospital, destined to die because she has no money for treatment. Both of them are suffering in a different way, neither speaks of it, because they don't want to make each other sad. Later on, Rika's mind conjures her old friend to be therewith her as she makes the worst decision of her life, because she felt like she was the only person who'd truly understand her. Mika could be that childhood friend of Rika's that she liked more than she realized, figuring out what her feelings were only after she found out she likes women. But she's dead, and Rika is headed towards a dark path.

Or maybe, since we don't know how Mika really ended if that theory is applied, she could live. And years later, if Rika faced trial and just punishment (which is something I think only happens in Saeran's AE, but this is fanfic ideas I'm crafting), coincidence or fate (Rika would probably say it's the latter) could bring them back together. Two women very traumatized in childhood and youth (with how Mika talks at age six, I'm pretty sure she's gone through something bad, kids don't just form such opinions out of thin air I think), only finding a good way to work through it years later, perhaps together.

Okay, the last one is pretty much the basic idea of a fic I'd like to write someday, but... Still.

I know the Mystic Messenger fandom is not too active nowadays, but I still wanted to get my MiRIka (well, ship name made up by me) manifesto out, just talk about them. But hey, if you've ever seen more content about them together, let me know, I'd love to see it!
