BY ALL MEANS infodump away about your Clan Ordo lore :D I looove a good infodump.
AYE, AYE CAPTAIN o7 the one about Jekiah is sad SO I'm focusing on the happy parts to counterbalance, and I'm thinking about how much of a quiet powerhouse Jaiga's brother Korvun is before all the Zakuul sadness happens, so Korvun lore ahoy!
Lemme set the scene a little first.
So, the best way I can describe Kinkaid Ordo is he is like THE big, bombastic, Santa-like grandpa that goes feral for his grandkids, which is good because he had six of them all living under one roof, plus Mirli Lok (who I'm headcanoning is Artus' kid because it gives a little more explanation for how she took the change from him as Mandalore to Shae as Mandalore) and Torian Cadera in and out all the time with their parents, because Kinkaid was in the same war band as their fathers and they all had sons around the same age that needed training, so Artus and Jicoln were essentially like his nephews by that point.
So you've got EIGHT Mandalorian kids running around under one roof, anywhere between 15 to toddler-aged. It. Gets. HECTIC. Jekiah and Mirli are the eldest/most level-headed two and kinda try to keep them corralled, but oh-ho-ho, if Layla, Korvun and Jaiga are left unsupervised? Shenanigans begin, and while Layla's usually the main drive behind it and Jaiga's her shadow, Korvun is the brains behind how they go about the shenanigans. Which nobody actually expects of him, because Korvun is a pretty quiet child, and he walks with a cane and cybernetic leg braces.
His parents Choruk and Kiri took Korvun and Jaiga out on a deep wilderness camping trip when Korvun was about 6 (because why would Mandalorians take their 6 and 2 year olds along on an easy camping trip? 🙃), and it was going great, but they didn't realize he'd caught a pretty nasty virus beforehand until they were deep, deep out there. By the time they got him back to civilization and treated, it had done a doozy on his lungs and his nerves, especially in his legs. It didn't break his spirit, though—Ordos have trouble with sitting still, but they're also really hard to kill.
Childhood for Korvun was a bit... rough, because for a culture as focused on war and fighting and strength as Mandalore is, being a kid that can't physically do a lot of that means you get a target painted on your back. But it's hard to be too down about it when you've got that many cousins ready to jump to your defense, and Korvun learns how to use his other strengths. He can't run very well, so it's hard to play ball with the others? That's okay, he has a mean throwing arm, he can be the pitcher. And being the one left on the outside gives him some pretty good observational skills, so add in that he's smart as a whip and particularly clever, Kinkaid sees a spark in him that, with the right training, will make him a fantastic representative for the clan when they have to do inter-house politics—the kind that can't be solved with a blaster, that Kinkaid and his sons have honestly always been a little too hotheaded for.
...and then all the family drama starts happening, and the clan shrinks and shrinks, until finally after the Schism, it's just Korvun and Jaiga, and even then they get separated. Korvun, who's just 17 and didn't fight in the battle for obvious reasons, is suddenly the chieftain of Clan Ordo, leader of House Ordo, and has to navigate being considered an arue'tal on top of already being considered the "fragile one". He can't contact Jaiga until she's earned her honor back, he can't risk contacting Jekiah, Layla or Rass and bringing that storm down on them, too. His parents are dead, his aunts and uncles are dead, his grandfather is dead, and Jicoln is persona non grata. Artus is setting him up to fail to pay for what he sees as Clan Ordo's betrayal, and Korvun knows it.
Screw. That.
Korvun does what he does best. He keeps his head down and does his work quietly, but with the kind of dedication and drive that is a magnet for people, and eventually he starts getting people to see the clan's actions as misguided (even if he still thinks Jicoln was right) and they start getting some political standing back. Playing to the crowd that still holds Canderous Ordo's tenure as Mandalore, with all the victories he won with Revan and the Exile, as the thing that brought Mandalore back from the brink after the wars definitely helps his cause. So does finding himself growing close with Mandalore's appointed representative for Clan Lok, a foundling member named Rin Tarsil. The ensuing marriage is both a political play and one sparked by love, and by the time Jaiga returns to Mandalore as Grand Champion of the Great Hunt, newly adopted member of Clan Lok, Korvun's almost completely gotten them back to their previous standing, on top of basically living the Mandalorian dream: a solid clan behind him, a loving spouse he's willing to go to war for and knows she'd do the same, and a new baby to carry on the legacy. And now, even if they're tangled up in post-Schism politics that make things hard, he has his sister back.
Not bad for the fragile kid, right?
In lieu of character creator pics for Korvun and Rin because I know if I play in the creator I'll be there all day: aaaaaarrrrrrttttt I have to finish their armor designs but they're both so pretty it's ridiculous even if I didn't realize the hair/beard combo kinda makes Korvun look like knockoff Prince of Egypt Moses until after I drew him 🙃
