In the Greek non-replica, I haven’t watched it just seen images online, I can’t see any mirror just a window so how does that work during the mirror scene?
I do have a previous ask on that theme, here: https://operafantomet.tumblr.com/post/178940423377/hi-anea-question-on-the-oslo-production-with
To elaborate a bit... The original Romanian production, the first to use this design by Andrew Riley, featured the window as the main set, with a draped curtain in top left corner of the stage as the only other feature. The window has a broad inner window sill where Christine sits during the mirror scene. The Phantom comes to view behind/outside the window, the mid section opens, and he whisks Christine away as the window/mirror set is dragged backwards and off stage to leave room for the lair’s “drum” set.
In the Norwegian production that followed, they had added a platform for the window set, where Christine’s dressing room table, lamp and framed photos was placed. This made the set design a lot closer to Maria Bjørnson’s original design, complete with Degas dancers in “Angel of Music” (as they also had in Romania, I think?). Another added detail was that the red roses from Raoul was left on the floor, dropped by a puzzled Christine at the beginning of the scene,, and this is what he found when he returned:
In Greece they did two takes on the Norwegian set. In Athens it was pretty much identical to Oslo:
But in Thessaloniki they had less space on and off stage, so the mirror set was modified. The broad window sill was cut, leaving only a flat mirror structure, and Christine sat directly on the floor:
But in all version it’s the square mid section of the window that opened and substituted as the mirror, as described in the link above.
