“Mirror’s Image” by Rosegarden Funeral Party off of their 2019 album Martyr
Is it too late?
Are you forever in a state
A crippling shyness
Whenever you see her walking by
Walk on into the night.
Week 43
It is gorgeous green red yellow orange autumn, and an album that I keep returning to every fall is Primary Colours by English rock band The Horrors, because of it’s heavy yet fresh sound, like a cold windy autumn day. My favourite track off the album is the opener Mirror’s Image (2009), which is the song I have chosen for this week. It starts out really mellow and electronic, until the bassline sets in and it turns into an epic piece of indie rock with cool synths floating in the background like falling autumn leaves. This track really marks The Horrors’ radical change from their very punk sound on their debut album to a more sophisticated alternative rock band.
The Horrors are an English band formed in 2005. Their debut Strange House from 2007 had an energetic punk sound and a gothic look that they quickly left in favour of the alternative shoegaze rock with glistening synths they play today. The Horrors are working on a new album set to be released 2014.
In short: If this song was a drink it would be burning hot tea, but you know, also with, like, alcohol (Do they even put alcohol in tea? Can you make Irish tea?).
