Hi! I’m the creator of Dragon’s Brands, an interactive fiction game I’m creating on Harlow. Whilst I don’t have much experience with Sugarcube, I was just wondering if you had checked YouTube for help with coding?
It helped me a lot when I was just starting out with Twine, it was great to just pause the video and copy step by step. YouTube has some great tutorials on coding.
I’ve also found it’s helped to keep a couple of word documents to track my stat changes and variable names, as well as a collection of code that I have used and might be useful in future.
Sorry I couldn’t be of more help, I hope these tips are useful.
I've checked YouTube for certain things, yes - that's actually how I figured out how to code my stat checks. I haven't looked at any in-depth guides, however. I'll probably check them out when I'm cleaning up the first demo's code.
As for a word document, that is a very good idea. I actually do have one right now with pieces of code I commonly reuse (i.e. the variables for the stats, certain if...else statements, etc etc), but keeping track of the variables is something I haven't done yet. Knowing me and how easily I forget... I should probably start lol.
So far, I've made extensive use of manonamora's Sugarcube guide, which has been an absolute godsend.
Anyways, thank you for the advice, and I wish you all the luck with Dragon’s Brands! I'll check it out sometime soon.
