Lucifer is the type of guy who will walk it off after breaking both his legs.
Mammon is the type of guy to say "god damn it!" On accident.
Levi is the type of guy to think he's being secretive when everyone knows.
Satan is the type of guy to ask are you ok while you're actively bleeding out.
Asmo is the type of guy to ask which looks better with two identical shirts.
Beel is the type of guy to go to a restaurant after he clearly already ate at another.
Belphie is the type of guy to say "sleep it off" when you have trouble sleeping.
Brother slander. Purgatory hall is next.
Bows for barb
Yeah because Lucifer is an idiot. How do you walk off broken legs? If anyone can do it, he can.
I feel like the Mammon one has happened in canon?? Wait he's definitely said damn it, but perhaps not with the god... and then it's back to the question of whether or not saying words like god hurts demons... but it'd be funny if it did lol.
Poor Levi... but yeah that sounds accurate to me.
HA okay yeah I can see Satan doing that. Hmm are you okay, MC? You seem to be losing a lot of blood.
And then when you point it out, Asmo's like NO this one is light grey and this one is heather grey, they are completely different colors!!
Beel is probably still hungry, too. The first restaurant is glad to see him go because he ate everything they had.
Classic Belphie brat response. I'd be like do you not understand the issue here??
Everybody needs a little brother slander in their life.
I was always kind of neutral about him in the OG, though he grew on me because I also love books and cats.
But Satan in Nightbringer has increased my love for him by a very significant amount.
Now obviously murderous Satan is totally great. It makes the times he flew off the handle in the OG seem like tea parties lol. He's just constantly threatening to kill and/or harm people, especially his brothers. Of course, this is all as we expected and makes sense considering how our poor boy was born.
But then we start seeing Satan change. They get access to the library and suddenly he's reading all the time. He still gets pissed off when people distract him from it and everything, but he's doing something that interests him rather than just being angry all the time.
And then when Belphie flips out about Beel, Satan is outside the HoL and he talks about how strange it is that Belphie is showing so much emotion. So it's like, even though they irritate him, he's been paying attention to his brothers. He knows them and has observed how they are.
And then at the very end, when he's talking to Simeon about the cat and how MC would love to see it, I wanted to cry. It was so cute and precious, especially coming directly after that devastating moment with Lucifer when he straight up asks MC if they are the brothers' enemy. It's like by staying out of the whole thing, Satan doesn't have a chance to question MC's motives. He's just out there being like, "Simeon look at this cat. MC would love it." It was so sweet.
Anyway, I love this boy and I love watching him deal with the anger. I love Simeon sympathizing with him about not sharing the brothers’ bond. I love watching him learn to love the things that mean so much to him when we first meet him in the present time.
Okay okay he’s so funny, so older sibling, so cute, and so just obsessed with MC I can’t handle him.
Now that he knows MC is human he gets all over protective because he thinks humans are fragile. This is adorable because not only does it mean he tends to just believe stuff that’s probably not true, but he takes it upon himself to make sure MC is okay.
But the best part is when MC sets him straight about it and he says this:
He’s a tsundere, sure, but I think when it come down to it, he’s more open and honest with MC about his own feelings, especially when they’re alone.
However if MC says something to him directly about how great he is or how much they like him, he gets crazy flustered immediately. Telling him he’s amazing gives us this reaction:
But he has no problem saying stuff like this:
It’s interesting because this sounds so possessive but then as soon as Belphie calls for MC he’s like okay go see what he wants. He doesn’t just want MC to only pay attention to him. He wants MC to rely on him. He wants MC to come to him when they need help. He’s not being possessive, he’s being protective and I think that’s an important distinction. Because who else is Mammon protective of? His brothers. He’s basically saying here that he sees MC as family.
And of course this is no surprise. Mammon has always been the first one to fall for MC but also the first one to accept MC as a member of the family. He treats them that way pretty much as soon as they get their pact in the OG. But in Nightbringer, he’s a little less guarded since they haven’t been in the Devildom that long and so he’s already feeling this way even without a pact.
I had a whole plan to write some Nightbringer theories, but when I tried I just kept writing myself into circles. I was making myself crazy so in the end I was like I better not post this. It’s still in my drafts, being a whole train wreck.
So instead I’m just gonna say that I love Solomon, but the man is a menace. He is hiding important stuff from MC and I am suspicious of his motives.
Not to mention whatever heinous thing he did to my true love Barbatos. Oof when he like commanded Barb to open a portal when they were in the labyrinth I thought for sure Barbatos was just gonna straight up kill him.
None of that is gonna stop me from writing some cute domestic fics with Solomon though. I love that MC is living with him in the unfortunately named Cocytus Hall. I mean if they were gonna go with Underworld rivers from mythology couldn’t they have chosen Lethe? I get not choosing Styx that one is a little on the nose and also brings to mind a classic rock band. But Cocytus is just ridiculous. Perhaps that was the point…
Either way, the place is clearly some kind of castle and we know nothing about it other than the exterior and that one room.
I keep thinking about cute MC x Solomon domestic fics, but also something dark and gothic because look at that place. I mean I know they’re in the Devildom and everything kinda has this vibe there. But there’s something about this huge place with two people living in it that just feels like the perfect gothic horror set up lol.
And even though I am suspicious of him, Solomon still clearly cares deeply about MC. When he defended them to Lucifer, when he says stuff about always being there to help MC or support them, the way he’s so protective of them… ugh I love him.
If I’m lucky I’ll have some time to write a little something soon because I would like to get some of this out of my head.
First time in an ask box, but you said you haven’t gotten a Belphie request yet. So here I am, Belphie with Storm?
Thank you,
Have a good rest!
Oh thank you, anon, and welcome to my ask box! <3
I'm so glad you decided to request Belphie! Now I've got the whole set lol! But seriously, I'm glad I got to write for him, I think he's adorable. There's something about that sleepy guy... I hope you like it!
Thank you for participating!
GN!MC x Belphegor with prompt Storm
Warnings: none!
You yawned as you made your way through the House of Lamentation. It had been gloomy outside all day, making the darkness of the Devildom feel even darker than usual. Everybody knew it was only a matter of time before the storm that was blowing in began in earnest.
You had something of an unspoken agreement with Belphegor when it came to stormy evenings like this. The extra layer of grey clouds had a tendency to make you a little sleepy. Since Belphie was always sleepy, it was the perfect time for the two of you to nap together. And so you were wandering around the house, trying to find him. Likely he was already asleep somewhere.
You poked your head into the kitchen just in case he was with Beel. And this time you happened to be right - that was exactly where he was. He was even awake, which was surprising.
Beel was busy making some kind of enormous sandwich, but Belphie was making two cups of some warm drink.
You came over to find that he was mixing the ingredients for devil hot cocoa in the two mugs in front of him.
You folded your arms. "You guys know we just had dinner, right? I'm not too surprised that you're already eating again, Beel. But Belphie? I'm surprised you're not already sleeping, it's been so gloomy today."
Belphie finished what he was doing and turned to you, handing you one of the mugs. "Leave Beel to his after-dinner snack, MC, and come with me to the planetarium."
You cradled the warm mug in your hands as you followed Belphie to the planetarium. You found a pile of pillows and blankets already on the sofa, including Belphie's favorite cow print pillow.
Belphie placed the mug on the table in front of the sofa before sitting down and burrowing himself into the blankets.
"Come on, MC," he said. "I heard this storm is going to have a lot of lightning. The planetarium is the best spot to watch from because of all the windows."
You finally understood what was going on. You settled in next to Belphie, mug of cocoa in hand. After taking a few sips of your drink, you rested your head on Belphie's shoulder and you felt the gentle weight of his head on yours. You were both already sleepy and you could feel yourself drifting. It was so warm there in the blankets and the steady movement of Belphie's body as he breathed lulled you.
Just as you were sure you couldn't stay awake another moment, the rain began. It started quiet, but it ramped up quickly, pattering the glass windows. And then the thunder began to rumble. It also started quietly, low and slow in a way that made it seem like it was in fact rolling across the Devildom.
Then there was a loud clap of thunder and you jolted a little. You managed to keep your drink in its mug, but you were dislodged from your comfortable position.
"Are you okay?" Belphie asked.
"Yeah, it just startled me, that's all," you said.
And then a bright flash of lightning streaked across the dark sky, illuminating the tops of the trees outside and creating a strange pattern on the floor of the planetarium. It lasted for only a few seconds before everything was dark again.
"Woah," you said.
Belphie nodded. "It looks really cool, right?"
"It's amazing," you said.
The two of you listened to the rain and thunder, watched the lightning, and finished off your drinks. You were nuzzled in close to Belphie as the room continued to light up with flashes of blinding light. You could see the jagged streaks in the sky, cutting through the clouds.
"Thank you for showing me this," you said. "I was ready to sleep through it."
Belphie laughed a little. "Me, too. But I thought you might be more interested in staying awake this time."
You realized suddenly that Belphie was staying awake to show you something amazing. That he was content to forgo his usual nap time routine just to be with you for this.
You reached out to cup Belphie's cheek, turning his face toward you. He looked into your eyes before leaning forward to meet your lips in a kiss. Lightning flashed through the room as the rain continued to patter against the glass. Belphie's arms were around your waist, his body providing even more warmth there beneath the pile of blankets.
The two of you would eventually fall asleep as the thunder and lightning calmed, leaving only the gentle sound of the lingering rain.
Lesson 15 really gave us a little quality time with some of the brothers and I have things to say about it so let’s start with Satan.
Isn’t it interesting how Lucifer was originally fine with chaining Satan up and putting him in a locker, but now he’s like just stay in your room and be quiet?
It could be that Satan himself is starting to mellow out enough that he’ll actually do this when Lucifer asks him to.
It could also be that Lucifer realizes that what Satan did was accidental and he’d rather encourage Satan’s interest in cats than punish him for the scratched up sofa.
But either way, Lucifer is aware that Satan is changing.
I’ve always been interested in Lucifer’s side of their relationship. This is because we get a lot of Satan’s perspective. He feels like he’s just Lucifer’s clone and understandably wants to separate himself from that.
But Lucifer doesn’t talk about how he feels about it very much at all.
So when we get evidence that Lucifer is actually quite thoughtful of Satan and his struggles, it makes me think that Lucifer (as usual) cares a lot more than he lets on.
We know Lucifer loves his brothers deeply even if he doesn’t always say it directly. But I think he really does see Satan as more like his son. I’m sure he can’t help but see so much of himself in Satan and yet he also sees that Satan is his own person and that’s a very parental type of thing. Lucifer wants to encourage Satan to be himself rather than trying to insist that Satan be just like him.
Lucifer wasn’t even in this lesson but apparently I had a lot to say about him lol.
Anyway, there’s also the way the other brothers are starting to see Satan as more than just wrath incarnate.
I looooved when Levi apologized to Satan and then Mammon teased him about being embarrassed. And then the others start asking him questions about his books. And Beel was like he’s been in here without snacks 🥺 This was all such a sibling interaction.
I also loved how Satan scolded Levi for not knocking first it’s just manners he says. Satan is very much a bit of a mom in the OG. He’s the type who’s going to be like hey don’t leave without a jacket it might get chilly. You know, just looking out for them in little ways like that. But also like cares about them having good manners that’s also very Mom to me.
It made me happy to see him once again get closer to how he was in the OG and how the brothers start to accept him.
Also this cracked me up:
Satan’s like you really thought I’d eat your pet snake? Gross.
Lesson 14 what have you done to me?? Officially in love with Diavolo… spoilers under the cut
I’ve always been pretty fond of Diavolo, but this whole epic scene during the trial was SO GOOD.
That poor boy I don’t understand. He’s all over here saying that his motivation has always been to impress his father. My guy… you can want both, you know?
Like it’s pretty clear that he does want to be a good king just on his own, especially considering how he thinks wanting to prove himself to his father somehow means he also doesn’t have his heart in the right place.
I just don’t think it’s that big of a deal? To me, Diavolo wanting to prove himself to his dad and all that doesn’t mean he can’t also be a good king? You can do both it’s fine.
His dad sounds like an asshole though so he can just go ahead and stay asleep.
And I’m glad that Diavolo ends up finding motivation other than that because his dad clearly doesn’t deserve that much effort.
And when he said this I nearly lost my shit:
You’re killing me with this stuff, guys. Quit making the characters say stuff like this when they don’t even know we’re from the future. I can’t take it!
he’s gotta do a trial that will kill him if he fails
his dad would normally tell him about it but since he’s unavailable, Diavolo has to go in blind
it’s happening this way because the nobility of his kingdom are against his decision to taken in a bunch of fallen angels
And he just holds his head up and says
I’m Diavolo.
Like that’s all that really needs to be said.
And I know he later tells MC that he was faking it but like of course he was? It was still just a really cool moment in my opinion.
And I am really interested to see what happens next! When they first disappeared, I was instantly like “Goddamn it Nightbringer!” Because I thought it was Nightbringer moving people around again. But it seems like maybe this has nothing to do with him? We’ll see!
Either way, there’s going to be some Diavolo and MC shenanigans and I am here for that.
I also really loved when MC went after him at the break and he just laughs about it. Such a classic reaction from him. It’s so cute.
