I'm actually really sad to see you leave. You're one of the best jelsa blogs I know, and you do everything right: you have amazing posts, you always source, and you are just really quality in general. tbh I think you're the most underappreciated jelsa blog out there and because you've contributed so much and I honestly loved every edit or graphic you did, and you even created an ARCHIVE and I cant say enough how much I love it. My personal favorite Jelsa fics are right below.

At the Center - So basically, the common interaction that Jack meets Elsa when she is young is a great idea that runs through the veins of the fandom, and I think this fic is the ideal one that completely fleshes it out. It's pretty long, I won't lie, but a lot of the chapters aren't extremely long and usually I can catch up in under an afternoon. Basically, this is my literal favorite Jelsa fic so far.

A Guide to Saving Jackson Overland Frost - Now if you want something angsty, beautiful and mind-numbingly painful, then this one is for you. I can't say exactly what it's about, but basically be prepared to be in pain afterwards.

Of Cold Appearances and Warm Hearts - I haven't caught up just yet on this one, but it's a very entertaining read so far and it definitely takes a different take on the whole Jack/Elsa meeting for the first time scenario.

Like Burning - Another favorite of mine, it's relatively short compared to the other three, but I still enjoy it. Another perspective on the first-meeting scenario.

Opinion on this whole mess in the Jelsa tag?

I have a lot of things to say on this subject (not really, mostly just thought bubbles but whatever) that I had been meaning to write about for sometime, and seeing as sleep doesn’t want to come drag me away from the computer I might as well just write this out now while my filter is off.

So as far as the credibility of my shipping goes (I don’t even know if that’s a thing let’s just roll with it okay? okay), I obviously ship Jelsa. But I haven’t shipped it from the beginning. I was not here six months prior, in fact this blog has only been active for a month now. So I cannot stress enough when I say that I do not speak for everybody in the fucking ship.

That being said; a petition idea, a pre-teen magazine article, and a preconceived notion that people ship two characters just for their powers shouldn’t speak for every shipper either. A lot of people on Tumblr don’t seem to understand that vocal minority =/= quiet majority. From how I see it:

75% of the ship are people who I can genuinely enjoy my snowtp with, 15% are art reposters who don’t know any better, 8% are reposters who DO know better but don’t take the time to source anyway, and the remaining 2% are the ones who manage to become the representatives of the entire fandom due to a few poor posts.

In my opinion, the petition idea and article was cringey as fuck for me to read. If I said that I don’t see (and I don’t want to see) a foreseeable collaboration between Disney & Dreamworks for a Jelsa movie, then I’m ready to bet that others will agree. Just because I love the ship doesn’t mean I’m going to mindlessly go along with every bad idea manages to show up in the tag.

(Also if you use the point that “Dreamworks & Disney are competing companies ofc they won’t collab!!!!!!” in a hate post then thank u for being captain obvious, u special snowflake).

To continue on, people also tend to mention the oh-so popular “ice powers” argument. I simply just don’t include the powers in the equation of “why I ship it.”

"Oh, but if you don’t ship it for the powers, than what do you ship it for?"

Probably for the same reasons that you like your pairing. It’s the character dynamic and emotional parallels that really shine for me.

Because maybe it isn’t the anxious girl that is the only one in need of company.

Because in a thousand different universes, we found a way to make them work. (or not, angst fic writers are cruel people).

Because an aging human and an immortal being will always be the most eloquent tale of star-crossed lovers.

Because even though time will be against them,  they will still memorize the contours of each others face; where his shoulders met his collarbones, the hint of hipbones that jutted above her waist, the scars and stories mapped out in their eyes. (And they will love the stories the best).

Because their insecurities means they can rely on the other to ground them back down; they can rely on each other for their disposition, and not for their strength.

Because whoever created the notion that I just ship them for their powers is terribly wrong.

And you know what? I’m fine with people thinking it’s only for the ice parallel. Because they will never know what I know. They probably will never see past what is skin-deep, and you should be okay with that too.

Jelsa has become the whipping boy for people from other ships and it is uncomfortable to just see shit-talk and rant posts in the tag. I’m fine with seeing it on my dashboard because I will just ignore it and scroll past since it is that persons’ opinion.

But if you are blatantly tagging hate in the ship tag (not even criticism; just hate), then you are going out of your way to pick a bone with people if you are planting that sort of bait. Have some tact and write a mental note, “If I don’t want to see it in my tag, they probs don’t want to see it in theirs”.

In short, before you put everyone on the same boat (huehue) because of a few misconstrued ideas:

don’t.
