hey gabi! i just wanted to know where you find fcs for your edits!
Hello, hello!! <333 So i take some steps when I look up for new faceclaims. That’s the order:
1) Model Agency Websites
2) Netflix
3) Cinema Academy
4) Spotify
5) Youtube
Now you may think, what the hell?! Wait, let me explain!
First I go through some Model Agencies I found trustful ( rednyc , bananasmodels , whynotmodels , models , 16paris )
P.S When I found the model I like, I search for his nationality and heritage to see if he fits the character I have in mind.
But, Gabi, what do you do when you don’t find them in these websites?! That’s when Netflix and Cinema Academies enter. I go around searching movies that take place in the country my character was born by searching “country movies” on Netflix and searching the Cinema Academy of the country. Then, I go around the cast of all those movies to see If I found someone that fits.
But, Gabi, lucky is not by your side and you still didn’t find someone!! And now?! I go to the music field and look for a music playlist of the country I want and search the top 10 videos of the said country on Youtube. I usually go through Rap-Trap music, but that’s because it’s already on my recommended music, but I believe pop music it’s a better place to start.
If I don't find it there, honestly I’ve never gone beyond that part but, you can also search for Instagram famous people. Influencers are more diverse in looks because they come from everyone, so it might be a great place to find people as well.
Hi, Anon! I have another request of tutorial but this one I can explain in a simple way (the other, not that much so it will take me a while huahskauhsa)
So, I create a new archive in Photoshop with a size of 540 x 800.
1. I incorporate the picture I want into it and add the PSD I’d like to use as a coloring! ( i used this one, but with A LOT of alterations ) .
2. Add above the PSD a paper torn texture. I don’t have the one I used anymore, but it’s something like this one
What I did was to use the Object Selection Tool to select exactly the part of the texture I’d like to use. If you don’t have one that has this “small paper part above” on both sides, you can duplicate the layer, invert it and then join the two pictures together.
3. Above the paper texture, you import all frames of the gif you chose to use. Here it is a great tutorial about how to make gifs.
4. Then you select allllll those frames and create a clipping mask, linking those frames to paper texture.
P.S: Your gifset needs to have already the coloring of your PSD, so when you are making the gifset don’t forget to add the PSD there as well.
5. Choose a cool font, in here I used a cursive one and another one sans serif because I think they do a great combo and write what you feel like it.
P.S: If you are wondering how I did the lettering on the one that doesn’t have a gif .... I first wrote the cursive one and then created a layer mask and erase the part I didn’t want to show up. After that, I wrote the sans serif letting right in that empty space.
And that’s basically it! I know know, I’m not that great explaining things, I’m sorry ahskaushaksa. But if you have any doubts you can reach me.
Hello, Anon!! Sorry it took me 300 years to answer this! So, I’ve been thinking about how to say what i’m about to say... I didnt find a way so I’ll be pretty straightforward.
I’ve been really cautious about doing a tutorial now. Recently I’ve been through a kinda upsetting episode where one of my edits were copied (not inspired, inspiration is always welcome, i love to see people getting one thing of my edit and transforming into something completely new). There is a difference between copying and getting inspired and sometimes the line is crossed.
That being said, I wont be able to do a tutorial for this edit! BUUUUT, I’ll do something I called, general guide to my edits (with an hypotetical edit i created). I won’t explain details but I’ll basically tell you how I do all my edits without being specific. I think this is the only way I found that I can both help you and also don’t give me anxiety over the fear of passing through this again. I’m really sorry because I indeed said I was okay with doing tutorials, and I was (I even made one), but right now I prefer to be more cautious about it. I’m deeply sorry!.
So here we go:
PREPARATION:
This is the moment I get all the things I need before editing. First of all a color palette in mind, it’s important to be the first thing to do (at the majority of the times) because all the pictures you will collect will work better if they are in the same scheme of colors.
Second, the main pictures!! I usually take my pictures from Pinterest (my account if you want to take a look). And third, but not least, textures and PSD. I usually see the pics first because it’s harder to find HQ pictures that fit your aesthetics than .PSDs.
PSD’s and Textures you can find in those resources website: chaoticresources , completeresourses , itsphotoshop , quirkyresources , janepsresources
OBS: If your edit includes gifset, I advice to search for the videos you want to gif at the “same time” you are looking for pictures. Because, again, it’s hard to find HQ videos of the exact scene you want.
If you don’t know how to gif, here it is a tutorial! ;) I’ve never used a tutorial before to gif so I do some stuff differently, but this tutorial it’s a really great one!
TIME TO EDIT:
1. First i open a new file on PS (500 x 800 px) 72 resolution RGB. Black or white background usually! But it can be the main color you will work with as well!
2. Add textures that have more info in it (life forests, castles, watercolor, full of flower textures) , they will compose your background! You can also add some .PNG in here (small flowers, thorns, whatever you think has the vibes of your edit).
If you are doing a Poster style of edit, you can skip this part, as a posters only has one picture + coloring + 1 or 2 textures maximum.
Those are the images I used, I took them both from free pick! To take away the background of the bird I used a selective tool!
2. Now I add the main picture ( archive > incorporate ) I want. It’s usually a person and i have to use the selective tool to take away the background at basically all times!
3. Now I add the coloring (sometimes I add this before). That means I add the .PSD + all the 293820320 alterations I usually do! In this hypotecial edit i just slapped a .psd and didnt alter anything. In this edit I used this one and in the herondale siblings one I used this one
4. Now that I have the base I add more textures (the one with few elements like gradients, paper effect, paper torn effect and others) + the lettering part. Both in this edit and the herondale siblings one I used this font ( at the time i downloaded for free but im not finding the link ). The textures I used are down below. I don’t have the herondale siblings one anymore!
5. After that you can add overlays and make it a gif! (i didnt now haushaks sorry) but I’ll leave here a tutorial so you can go to the next step. I also dont do like that but I don’t even know how to explain ahuskhasaksa. i’m a no tutorial type of learner so my way of doing things it’s also missing stuff.
TA DAH:
That’s how I do all my edits to be honest! Sorry If I can’t do a proper tutorial, I hope you can understand my concern after the situation I’ve been through! I hope this will help you! :)
P.S: EVEN THOUGH THIS IS A EDIT MADE FOR THIS “TUTORIAL” THE EDIT IS STILL MINE AND CANNOT BE USED ANYWHERE ELSE!! Thank you!! *yup! i had problems with that as well*
Hi! So...I’m attempting to edit Cordelia, and I was wondering, how do you change hair color?
Hi Anon, so... I’ll try to explain this here but honestly some stuff changes depending on the pictures. I also use PS to do that.
If the hair is lighter (blond or red hair or light brown) I usually take a soft brush with bright red color and paint above the hair IN A NEW LAYER (that a place above the picture layer). Then I change the bending mode of said layer to MULTIPLY or DARKER COLOR and change the opacity accordingly to get the tone I want.
If the hair is dark I usually take again the soft brush with a red color (but this one varies a lot, it’s always red but the tone can be lighter or just bright) and paint above the hair IN A NEW LAYER (again above the picture layer). Then I change de bending mode to VIVID LIGHT or OVERLAY and change the opacity accordingly. I usually need to duplicate the layer as well to get a nice effect and lighten up the black a little bit using Selective Color > Black > Black (and moving it to the negative numbers to get a lighter shade of black)
Duuuuude that was confusing, but believe me, with pictures was getting, even more, confuse for me to explain ahsukahska. Hope I’ve helped!
where do you find all of your pictures and textures?
Hello, Anon! Basically Pinterest to the pictures and the textures I find on resource blogs around Tumblr or in tutorials some of the blogs I follow post. You can also search #resources pack or #texture pack here at Tumblr that they will probably show up to you! Hope I’ve helped!
Anon.. I gotta be honest here, I used 18729172 people as Lucie haukshaukshaksah so as i have no idea which one you wanna know here it goes some names: Kaya Scodelario, Marina Moschem, Agatha Moreira and Maria Zhgenti. I added the name in order of uses in my edits :) Hope I’ve helped somehow!
