What are your Headcannon about magic in alternia?
That’s a pretty hard one for me to answer really. One reason being that I don’t know a lot about magic, and I’m assuming you aren’t meaning the whole illusionary magic tricks that most people think of when someone mentions magic.
First off, given how Eridan is constantly trying to write off the magic thing as purely science, I feel like on Alternia, if you believe in magic it’s seen as a childish thing (similarly as to how it would be seen on earth really) only a thing of fantasy seen in games and such.
As for actual magic and it working, that’s a little hard to really determine. If I’m not mistaken, Eridan got his wand after they’d entered Sgrub when Kanaya made it with the alchemizer, where beforehand he used the laser gun of his to fight. (I may be wrong???) So disregarding all of that stuff that he did, as well as taking into account the fact that Rose couldn’t do magicy stuff either until they entered Sburb, I would say magic is more just fantasy, usually just a trick of the eye and illusion things like on earth.
I mean, when you think about it, when many of the lowbloods already have supernatural powers, most things that’d be seen as ‘magic’ on earth (like levitation and fire manipulation and such) are kind of irrelevant.
Again though, I’m not entirely certain on this topic because I don’t know much about magic and I don’t really have a lot of headcanons concerning it’s legitimacy on Alternia or anything like that. Typically it’d seem kind of OP on a character, but if done correctly, I don’t see why magic couldn’t somehow be used creatively.
