Pettigrew’s Hand
I think it’s pretty widely agreed upon that the hand is immensely powerful but Voldemort would never give it to a follower without it having a disloyalty or betrayal fail safe.
In the Deathly Hallows when Peter Pettigrew is strangled by his own hand it is phrased in such a way that it seems like it turned on him for hesitating to kill Harry. Maybe I am just less forgiving but I don’t think that’s what actually happened.
I think Peter is so far gone that he wouldn’t show hesitation because Harry is James’ son. Frankly, it is far more likely that the hand hesitated on it’s own.
The hand’s fail safes would of course include something to prevent Peter physically going after Voldy himself. I think it is far more likely that the hand registered the part of Voldemort’s soul that resided in Harry and took that to mean Peter was performing the most egregious of treason, attacking his lord and master. Treason = Death.
Nope, no pity for Pettigrew.
