Ok, I'll admit something. I really don't like the Warden/Mistress ship. I'm even Anti-Warden/Mistress. Seeing them together makes me mad and feel grossed-out for some reason. I don't like all the fanfics and fanart of them (that are all mostly old now and a lot of the fanfics are poorly-written with the characters completely out-of-character, especially Warden and Mistress). I notice the character of The Mistress is often butchered in the fanfics to basically force her to fall in love with The Warden, be compatible with him, be obsessed with marrying him, and be his personal baby factory who will do anything and everything to please him. I'd even call the way they butchered her character misogynistic. A lot of their shippers back in the day (they're pretty much all gone now) seemed obsessed with them, insisting their pairing was canon and that they loved each other (despite plenty of evidence to the contrary). They even were very upset when their pairing was sunk in "Stingstress" and wrote Fix Fics where they follow the LifeScript (when they canonically aren't interested in it), fall in love, get married, and have children, and "having it all". The relationship and especially romance between them in these works feels extremely fake, forced, and unnatural. Not every character needs to get married or have children.
Overall, I notice fanon Mistress and canon Mistress are very different. It's like they're not even the same character! Same goes for Warden, especially when he's paired with Mistress.
Don't know exactly why I feel this way, but maybe because they look and act too similar and very well could be related, and how The Mistress was often treated in fanon by the old fans.
(If they ever turn out to be related, I'm gonna laugh. And laugh. And laugh.)
