In  prosperity  and  the  senseless  doubt  of  man,  uneasiness  was  bound  to  flourish  something  unkind  and  festering  in  the  mildest  offset  of  the  world.    –    And  was  that  too  much  of  him  ?    Too  self-sabotaging  of  a  thing  ?    He  can’t  say,  the  mind  stumbles  as  much  as  his  words,  and  perhaps  he  never  would  be  able  to    (  happiness  was  a  creature  he  seldom  kept  at  his  side  for  this  long,  this  untroubling-ly  so  ).

There  was  unfamiliarity  in  being  at  peace,  even  in  his  most  innocent  of  youths    (  the  weight  of  it  all...    how  did  that  not  kill  a  child  ?    he  had  not  realized  then    –    but  ah,  that’s  a  thought  for  another  day  )      to  his  most  violent  thereafter’s.    Rubies  blink,  too  deeply  engrossed  by  a  running  mind  that  only  ceased  its  ventures  during  vengeful  ire.

❝  You’re  late,  ❞    he  murmurs,  his  voice  curved  with  a  clear  curiosity  and  brow  cocking  a  questioning  tilt.    ❝  Very  much  so    –    what  kept  you  ?  ❞

THE BASTARDIZATION OF LOVE ,  he would have once called it as a creature so cruel could never be brought to humanity and its forgiveness  ( you were once a monster, still are, but quelled.  it is not my place to be the hand to absolves you  /  do not seek that relief from me, I won’t give it to you ).  He vividly recalls the weeping ‘ I’m sorry ‘s cried out from this man’s lips as he clung to him with a desperation that almost made him look away in churning nausea  ( and he in return, held him, helplessly drawn to pity even when knowing better, should have done better ).

There is no scorn to be kept in the midnight charm shared between them, nor in the dulcet mornings that sprung the dew onto grass yet to be walked on, yet to be splayed as a mantle and food were deposited on them  –  it’s homey, it’s foreign, casual in the manner he’s never once known as despite a well nurtured childhood, he had never once rested without worry of more  ( blaming his father for it still leaves him ill, he shouldn’t taint a memory ).

Does he love him ?   ❝ What brought this on ? ❞ he asks softly, worried even if unwilling to quell this anxiety from his lover with damning words to a cause.

Aren’t you sweet ?  /  Devoid of that acrid bite of yours as of late .   A florid blush rests rosy on his cheeks, though there is curiosity amidst the warmth that compels for brows to furrow and his head to tilt, as if either perplexed or amused by the sentiment so thoroughly displayed  ( a mushy thing to say, but was it spoken with doubt in the self ?  have you roused with insecurity today ?  he lays concerned, bound to be by the out of place ).  

But there was no need to ruin the moment was there no more to it other than the softness derived from a lovesome day, simplicity could take anyone off guard at times.  He hums, eyes still affixed on the man.  ❝ You already are by staying out of trouble, Laurant. ❞  Spoken as a tease laced in fondness, but he motions him closer with a finger nonetheless, as if something physical might offer a sturdiness his words could not  ( and that would be fine, a silver tongue could only go so far when it involved the intimate rather than the impersonal, of that he’s most aware ).
