38 down, 962 to go!
Today I start my 2017 goals in earnest, now that I've turned in a draft of Book 3 and gotten my big birthday trip out of the way. I've even started studying Russian again, for the first time since October. Going to see if bullet journaling helps keep me organized and on track. Expect more regular posts here!
My book for this week: Origins of Totalitarianism by Hannah Arendt. About 20% finished.
I think the best way to make sure I finish my project this year is to do four cranes a day instead of three. Halfway through today's, I decided to change the way I write the notes on the inside. I've also begun to string together the ones that I've already made. After I get back to the end of the rainbow, I will make two a day of each color and string them as soon as they're finished. When I'm finished with my overdue novel, I will start reporting on some of my other goals as well. But right now it's mostly just working on that, and folding cranes.
I'm going to make four cranes a day for a while, since I'll be out of town for two weeks this month. 19 down, 981 to go. I think i'm past the worst of the obstacles to finishing my book now. Worked out all the plot problems and now I just have to write those last few chapters. My husband and daughters return from Indiana tomorrow. I'll miss the quiet and the freedom. But it will be nice to have at least one grownup in the house.
Another rough day, but I think I sorted out all the plot problems in the last quarter of my novel. It should be smoother going after this. 15 down, 985 to go.
Feeling glum today, but still managed to make these. 12 down, 988 to go. Writing isn't going so great. Still on track, but I'm just not proud of what I'm producing. Here's hoping miracles happen in editing.
Today's batch of cranes is a little bit rumpled and sad. But they don't have to be perfect! The main point is the mental health exercise: to remember one thing that brings me joy, one thing I'm grateful for today, and to make one little secret wish for the future. The writing is going better today than yesterday. I hope to finish this draft by the end of the week, so that I can look ahead to my historical fantasy project.
