Sobbing and crying as I try to keep up with all the new Misinterpreter blogs popping up
THEY KEEP SPAWNING I'M DROWNING
This is still relevant. Even more so now. I literally couldn't keep up and the tournament makes me realize I was never even close.
I am curious about where those names came from
- maybe the mod of one of those blogs, who knows
For Mal, it's a name taken from the first syllable in Malevolent, but also a nice, gender neutral name. It can be short for a lot of names, so it's nice and vague, but also felt more ominous to me.
Null is a name I picked from the "no-faith" part (Although I also considered Nix/Nyx) specifically because it refers to an absence of something (null and void, for example) and, well, lack of faith or understanding
Moth is from Mothman. This is a reference only I find funny. Nessie, Loch Ness monster, and Moth, from Mothman. Implying Nessie and Mothman have beef was just really really REALLY funny to me.
Nuance comes from the literal debate version of the word, to take a complicated stance on something. This one I also considered Nix/Nyx for, but I went with something I felt was more "balanced"
Caine is a multifaceted choice. Both from the verb "cane" (to beat with a cane) and "canine" (a dog or sharp tooth) while drawing reference to biblical mythology (the first murderer)
Madoka is a name from the perhaps greatest and by far most popular yuri series of all time, Madoka Magica. This seemed like a good pick for a blog centered around yuri and relationships.
I picked Doubt because it felt a bit different from other names, but also because it is, literally, the opposite of Faith. To doubt something is to not hold blind faith in it. For a blog inverting reality, it seemed like a nice pick.
Gabriella is a feminized version of Gabriel, an angel from biblical mythology. I felt like it was both far away enough to be too vague, and also way too on the nose, and I hoped that would even out a bit.
The others on the list were already canon, some of which I helped name! And because of that post, a lot came out and gave their actual names. Which is great, since now I have them and can use them for my fanfictions...
