This has one of the best cold opens ever. That Ari Aster really knows his stuff. I like how most of the deaths are offscreen so that, depending on how messed up you are, you can decide for yourself whether the various mutilations happened pre or post death. Very considerate. It's got a lot in common with the Wicker Man obviously but does ultimately tell a different story, more personal than social.
