Not himself. He has no need. They will always be what they always are : pawns. And he's already garnered their trust and already has them in the clutch of his hands --- at least in reality. He has no need to spend time with his classmates. He only has to stay in this world long enough until his plan can be accomplished.
❝ Komaeda-san. ❞ a quiet inquiry for the lucky boy, it’s words met for his ears, and his alone. though, she supposes it’s also fitting given the location, as libraries were meant to be quiet, right? which, is exactly why she came to the place when neither her cottage or the hotel worked as a place to stay for a bit. if this were a normal library, she suspects that she’d get scolded for playing video games in a place so full of vast knowledge, but it wasn’t, and besides-- even she needed to get away for a bit, if only to recollect her thoughts.
so when she sees him there, she’s almost tempted to turn back around; not because she didn’t want to be around him, (though, luck isn’t on his side for now-- hostility meets him wherever he goes) but because she almost feels bad for intruding on his own solitude. he’d spot her sooner or later, so she might as well stay around for now as footsteps make her way towards him, eventually stop feet away from him.

ah ... that’s today as well ... —— it’s not as if he forgot, though his timing is definitely a little lacking. although he could have easily got up and sent in a message at exactly at 12am JST ( or maybe 12:05ish; it would probably take a bit to actually think of what to put. hah. ), maybe this unremarkable type of 9am greeting was just fitting for him. a casual little “hey, i remembered” —— nothing too weird or fancy, but still a-hopefully-acceptable gesture.
it takes him a few tries to get the message typed properly. embarrassing, really. something he won’t admit to komaeda, given the mediocrity of the final product. after one or two lengthy sentence-ridden attempts, he finally backspaces it all and settles for short and to the point. that’s it. slightly vague, but komaeda’s smart. no hints, no sentiments, nothing.
& although he says he wants “nothing too weird or fancy,” something still feels ... like he could definitely be made fun of for this.

Two Pokémon can be fused together.
LUDICROUS —- no, outrageous, the very idea of forcing two separate Pokémon into one sent chills running the trainer’s spine. ( unreal, there’s no way... ) Wary eyes wander; and he hopes—- hopes that he wouldn’t stumble upon any such trauma occurring among Unova’s legends.
Corrupt eyes pierce his soul: green hair, dark cloak. Ghetsis. Even the thought of him brought upon an uneasy feeling. Yet ( he knew ) if anyone had been up to dna splicing it would be the leader of Plasma himself. Lightning strikes; a wandering mind forced back to reality, the darkness of the night refusing comfort, a cry following the boom that lingered. ( he knows this cry ) The anxiety that filled him settled itself—- a brave face thus forced unto his features ( if not him, then who ? ), and worn heels move forward the source.
Nature proves to be unmoving ( though it’s not so much nature, he’s already assumed ); and the emotion driven through strikes of lightning display this. Trees fall ( it’s loud ), fires spark ( —-bright ), and it isn’t too long until the harsh reality of life attempts to stop him dead in his tracks. Fire ( nowhere to go ), an easy obstacle for Mijiko to overcome, yet his hand strays from the Pokémon’s capsule ( he wouldn’t dare put his trusted companion to face this threat ). TURN BACK—- his mind screams. Too late, and the crushing weight of a cursed tree falls upon him ( just his luck ).

For a moment, he almost laughs, but instead, his lips dip into a small frown. The joke manifests itself in a soft voice, a bit too serious to count as just a tease, but really, he means it in the best way possible. still chastising, still oceans away.

He tried to check in everyone when he paid the Jabberwock crew a visit. Making sure everyone was doing alright, eating well, getting enough sleep... Plus, since it being the last time he would be able to visit for a while, he wanted to make sure he sat down with every one of them and figured out what they wanted to do. The Academy plan was going to start soon, and as soon as it did, he would have to trust the 17 of them to do their best on their own until things got to a good pausing place.
He knocked on his door softly. Some of the others said he was in his room, most likely. So, there was a good chance he was resting, right? Since he probably needed it the most.
“Komaeda-senpai? Are you in there? I brought some treats!”
