Miss Biscuit
Based around the top ‘Rich Black Coffee’.
My housemate went pumpkin carving the other night and was very proud of making our neighbours' cat.
Sleepy Biscuit in my arms
Ok so dnd update for tonight.
Yana attempted to enter the city as a postal sherrif here to see about matters of interrupted service and what not. (Postal sherrif clarabella marshall)
Wasn't let it. Only people who already had papers were let in.
So Yana decided to haunt the city walls as a ghost (ashen anya) knocking on the walls and going, "do you have any wood? Fire? Please, sir, I'm cold." Over and over. (Also dressed up with stringy black hair slicked down by rain on a clear night, tattered dress, sunken feature etc.) Only took half an hour for a cleric to show up to get rid of me. So "pretended" to be turned and ran away screaming in fear and turned invisible.
Then decided to see about getting into the city because there was a revolution Yana had started on her last visit and needed to see about.
So.
Pulled up and identity that had been there before. Petra petrova was known. But also connected to the murder of an (evil) wizard. So that one was like maybe let's not go with.
So Yana went with Miss Biscuit. An old human (?) lady who bakes cookies. Established ID had a library card even. Yana had special stilt shoes/legs made. Had ability to mimic voices and accents. Had magic armor and disguises that didn't need concentration and didn't expire. Wouldn't get clocked as a gnome.
Polymorphed the companion with me into a parrot. They had green skin. And the identity they used to get into the city the previous time was seen throwing the bomb that exploded the prison.
Well forgot that that was the one I'd used to break out the spy by blowing up part of the jail the last time we were in the city...
So as soon as Yana showed those papers... got iron bands of boleroed, gagged, and hauled into an interrogation chamber.
Polymorphed parrot snuck in in the chaos and then figured out their own persona knowing my character was good at getting out of trouble and if yana wasn't back by morning then she would have to worry.
So in comes dude with super douche facial hair, blonde asshole haircut, super polished showy armor, and a flaming red sword saying he serves a lawful evil deity (yana rolls a nat 1 so doesn't know until regroup with rest of party, the third member of the party was born in the city so he just strolled right on in no problem).
Then of course comes the interrogation/interview.
Zone of truth.
Now. In my campaign there's something funny with gnomes and magical lie detectors. They're a) blessed by (all) the gods of chaos and basically automatically mess with magical means of detecting a lie or not (see, the truth is subjective, if they think it's the truth, then it's the truth as far as they're concerned). If they "fail" the save, the person gets that they passed it and so knows they aren't necessarily telling the truth. If they pass the save. That's when things get fun. It loops around gnome logic and chaos god(dess) blessings and comes out as failing the save to the person who cast the spell.
So, yana fails "passes" the save. Gets told off for resisting. I roll the save again and pass "fail" it. As far as the man is concerned, a human (?) or half-elven (?) elderly baker with a southern belle accent has failed the save and is now bound by the rules of the spell: anything she says must be true. (Obviously it's not going to bypass his own bullshit detecting abilities. So there are limits to how much of a "lie" yana can tell.)
So questions.
What is your name?
Yana (embarrassed): well... it's not really Miss Biscuit you see. It's- it's to sell cookies. Nobody wants to buy cookies from- from someone named... Margaret Puce.
The guards: snickering at the name
Interrogator: some question about the prison break and the explosion? Why weren't you seen since?
Yana (as if recounting horrible upset): oh you mean that big explosion way back? That thing scared me half to death. I was terrified to return. You know you can't trust cities.
Interrogator: have you ever been to the prison?
Yana (aghast): Why would I go there? There's criminals there!
Miss Biscuit (yana) gets let go. Miss Biscuit is cleared of all charges and the identity is further established in the city.
End up walking into the inn. The companions recognize the disguise and know yana is ok, and they all pretend not to know each other, get their own rooms etc. Then yana climbs through the ceiling of the inn to get to the other's room for plotting.

Dnd is fun.
I got a new cookie pillow and both of my cats have decided it belongs to them. Guess it's a cat bed now.
