Born and raised in Queens, New York, Taiwanese-American rapper Christine “Miss” Ko broke into the music world while studying Mandarin in Taiwan after graduating as valedictorian of Five Towns College. Her 2012 debut album “Knock Out” earned her a “Best New Artist” Golden Melody Award—distinguishing her as the first rapper to receive the honor—and numerous Golden Indie Music Awards. Since then, Miss Ko’s career has constantly thrust her in pop culture spotlight, and she has been credited with redefining Mandarin hiphop.

Miss Ko’s bilingual music is distinctive in its diverse focus. Without a certain theme or rulebook, Miss Ko produces music centered on topics ranging from selfies and pizza to feminism and grief. Her comfortable flow between English and Mandarin has contributed to her global success, and her chart-topping songs bear influence from both her New York roots and Taiwanese culture.

Queen of Queens is the title song from Miss Ko’s third album. Focused on Miss Ko’s own struggles in the music industry, it gives a nod to her ability to transcend lingual barriers through rap and her belief in women empowerment. In addition to producing independent albums, Miss Ko has collaborated with artists such as Khalil Fong, MC Hot Dog, and A-Mei.

This is my first attempt at translating a rap song, and wanted to keep the natural feel of her lyrics from my understanding. 1) 皇后區 refers to Queens, one of the five boroughs of New York City and the place where Miss Ko was born. 2) aMEI is a famous Taiwanese singer who is known as the Queen of Mandopop. 3) Chinese history (華語歷史) is actually specifically talking about Chinese language history.
