"Timon is the only one who knew I was beautiful all along." 😭
Look at that baby, doing her shopping!
I don’t know why there are so many pictures out there of Christine in a god-damned grocery store while we have no pictures of her as a bride when she was married twice. (Not that I care for any pictures of Ed, but I would die for the wedding pics of her and John!!)
Ok so I finished Miss Perfect Miss Ending for the first time (accidentally uninstalled it which means I have to replay it again. It's fine tho I adore this game) and while I think the obvious, meta answer for the whole stages is that only the last stage matters or real to the actual lore/ Pretty and Elegant's lives, I think there's another theory.
I can't remember exactly the early stages lore because I was still confused by the whole thing, but I remember Elegant (unnamed POV chara at the time) noted in the start that there is a delirious/passed out guy in the labyrinth. Now I don't remember what explanation there was about the labyrinth, but I suspect that it messes up your mind. My theory is that every level before the last stage is Pretty's dreams, memories, and feelings (betrayal, love, guilt, and gratefulness) getting jumbled together into weird, confusing visions.
Before I got to the last stage, I remember thinking Pretty and Elegant are in this toxic, subtly-romantic rivalry because Elegant was always portrayed as this ojou-sama stereotype - haughty, envious, arrogant, and coy while Pretty was always in the role of a bumbling and hotheaded MC (though in some they both were also portrayed as reluctant friends). But some levels contradict that in a way that is wild enough to confuse me - namely the very first level and the Parasite level.
In the first level, Elegant looks sad and pensive, sitting alone in a badly-lit room with Pretty boiling in a ... uh. Soup. If I recall correctly. I think this is what Pretty hopes was happening to Elegant - that she is regretting her 'betrayal' and lives her life sad and saddled with the guilt, as in, Pretty dead and soup-efied body. Or it could also be unhinged desire to be cannibalized. Up to interpretation.
Then in the Parasite level there is this:
I know this could be read in Elegant's voice but I think it was still Pretty. This was her hope, too, mixed with a bit of a nightmare. As we can see, she still viewed (views) Elegant as her most important person, but her bad memory about the Thing that happened in the last stage shadowed her hopes. It made Elegant to look like a monster then, with multiple ruby eyes. But she came. She came back anyway from whatever Hell she was, only for Pretty! An apology for her 'betrayal' and an acceptance of Pretty's apology for running away! Fucking hell, these two.
Then we get this as the level's true ending:
Here, Elegant's monster tentacles look like blood dripping on Pretty. Now this may be farfetched, but we also have this from the final level:
Pretty, in the past, cared too much about people that Elegant hurt even though they were the one that hurt Pretty first. Now go back to the Parasite true ending and make a connection from the blood-looking tentacles all over her and Pretty's last sentence.
"Therefore, come what may, I will never let you leave my side."
What is implied and unsaid is this: "Even if you have blood on your hands. Even if you betrayed me. Even if you actually hate me. Even if you are a monster."
And so, my conclusion: All of the stages and levels are all Pretty. They're all her and all hers. Her memories, hopes, regrets, and love regarding Elegant mixed into one (plus her quirkiness I guess ... since a lot of things are very out of pocket lol)
Once I decided to play a game that my phone recommended me cuz why not and I literally fell in love with it. It's name is 'Miss Perfect, Miss Ending' and it's some kind of puzzle game, soo, maybe give it a try?? (here are some of the queerest ends I got)
