How they hand ended up on the floor Newt couldn't recall, and the adrenaline and sheer panic that flooded Newt's system ensured he had no hope of figuring it out anytime soon. She was close, far too close, and everything swam and closed in on Newt as his vision tunneled and his breathing hitched, rapidly increasing. His hands flew out, shoving Kala away as he rolled and scrambled to the side, clutching at the collar of his shirt as the fabric seemed to constrict around his throat.

“Next time, easy on the restraints?” She teased as the Auror uncuffed her hands, holding her mischievous smile even while he rolled his eyes at her and gestured for her to take a seat. A dance she was all too familiar with, considering how often she was here. 

This time, her offense was minor. To be fair, using her wand to tie up her hair hadn’t been a smart idea, but she hadn’t known at the time that a No-Maj would try and yank it from her bun. The ensuing minor burst of magic meant having to Obliviate a good chunk of people, and yet another debriefing with Magical Law Enforcement about being more discreet. 

Kara dropped down into the offered chair, one leg crossing over the other as she lounged back. From what she could tell, the office was busier than normal lately, if the endless stream of people running back and forth was any indication. It was a surprise they’d even bothered bringing her in, but MACUSA didn’t go easy on petty criminals. Certainly not after the current scandal.

Newt was walking alongside Kala in the streets of New York when it started to pour down rain in a matter of seconds. One moment the sky was perfectly clear, and the next it was raining without any sign of stopping. Newt quickly put his hand around Kala’s waist to help guide her to a nearby awning where they could hopefully wait under until the storm passed.
