New Year’s resolutions: Exercise
With a New Year comes New Year’s resolutions and undoubtedly every year you hear the same resolution, “I need to lose weight, I need to go to the gym”…which isn’t surprising considering most of us eat our body weight in food over the festive season. If you are feeling super motivated to shed some pounds and get fit it can be difficult to do in January as it’s a long month, and most of us end up being pretty damn poor. Regardless of finances we all want to look our best, especially in preparation for those summer beach holidays, so I’ve came up with a couple of ways to save you some pennies and start working out!
Clothing
Big brands like Nike and Adidas can be pretty damaging on your purse strings if you don’t already own workout clothes, but at the same time, nobody wants to be trailing though sale bins or wearing fluorescent colours, so what do you do? Well, a lot of online clothing retailers have started their own fitness ranges that are way more affordable than big brands, which could be a great idea if you are just starting out and don’t want to leave yourself bankrupt.
Boohoo launched their Boohoo Fit range around a year ago and they have a great range of products and designs. I’m personally not the biggest fan of this range because of the clothing quality, but if you are looking for super cheap and cheerful then they’re the one for you with their product cost varying from just £3 - £17.
My absolute recommendation has to be Missguided’s Active range, which also launched around the same time as Boohoo’s (which is no surprise). I massively prefer this range, I feel like the design and quality of their collection seems to be a little more exercise focused and built for purpose, whereas Boohoo’s range seems to be leisurewear essentially. Missguided’s range varies from £5 - £20 so there’s not a huge difference in cost between the two, so go with your preference!
Exercise
As simple as exercise sounds, it’s not always so easy to do, schedules can be busy and making time for the gym can be difficult. Cheap gym’s like Puregym aren’t always accessible and with the average gym cost in the UK being £32 per month, it can be pretty steep. In aid of helping you stick to that resolution, here are a couple of ways to get exercising without even having to touch your bank account.
Running/ jogging is the obvious one, it’s free to do and burns more calories than many other exercise, what more could you want? Well, another free of charge option is YouTube videos. We all see the super fake workout videos that reality TV stars sell, but wouldn’t you rather workout for free with real people who actually look like the packaging? If so there are tons of videos online, so here’s one to get you started from fitnessblender.com
I hope this has helped with your finance’s and ideas, now it’s down to you to stick to that resolution and get bikini body ready, good luck and happy New Year!
