#missing perspective

I was today years old when I realized the one who made the yarn slurper art and the creator of one of my fav tfa fic is the same person and boy it is giving me feelings.

Anyways, questions, how do you feel about people still coming to you about Missing Perspective? How do you feel about the work itself, anything you feel proud of or would tweak? It is a fic that still brings me great joy today, but I understand it’s probably been a long time since you finished it for you, so you don’t have to answer the questions at all if you feel kind of over it.

Honestly it's been a while I get the occasional comment and my ass always forgets to go back and reply to them on AO3 so oops if that was one of yours. I knew it was the best ShockBee fic on the market but I didn't think it was that influential on the TFA section of the fandom tbh.

It's a great fic and I am proud of it. Took a LOT of planning and I went the extra mile to please the readers by adding in the multiple endings for everyone when I really didn't have to. I had one ending planned you might be able to tell which one it was.

The main thing I would change going back to it would be the grammar as that's probably the biggest bar to people enjoying the fic. Your boy juni circa 2017 making 76 word long sentences because they don't understand what a clause is.

I'm 30+ ass years old, got a C in English and I still don't understand what a clause is. I don't have as much energy to write as I used to. I feel old, I'm old, I'm a grandma. I envy 27yr Juni they was working minimum wage and living in a single room on a diet of eggs and they delivered more writing in a month than I do in a year now.

Anyway, other things I would change I'd probably add a few extra bonus scenes like DVD extras. Having a proper intro to Sari would be one I kind of just said "she's here now" in chapter 3 didn't I?

Ahhhhhh, I remember reading the fic; Missing perspective when I was exploring the rarepairs of transformers on ao3. This was before I got an ao3 account.

Yet, I can't help but think in the aftermath of the ending To our Future of the Elite Guard coming down and the shenanigans that would happen, since I feel that in reality (and what SHOULD have happened) is that Ultra magnus goes to Washington D.C. to establish diplomatic relations and brings Optimus along for needed help in that. Leaving Sentinel in charge of the rest of the team plus Jazz. And like bumblebee, bulkhead, and shockwave/longarm avoiding Sentinel as much as possible, even doing jobs that they hated to avoid him. Maybe even Ratchet since he had a brief interaction with him, and Prowl may have to be the one to mainly deal with Sentinel.

This would be something for the humans, since like in the afternoon or during the night before Magnus and prime leave for D.C. the three youngest of the group make plans and notifications to the humans they work with about doing extra work or assignments they even don't like to do. OR they talk to their human friends about dreading working with/ following orders from Sentinel, or wanting to avoid him as much as possible. I imagine bumblebee being the one to bring up Sentinel being their ex drill sangrant. At first I feel that Fanzone and the rest would take it as bumblebee being bumblebee, but as bulkhead and even longarm and ratchet talk more about how Sentinel was like, or that he is narcissistic and hates organics. Then, I believe the tone would change. I like to think about reporter or someone records it and it spreads all over the internet. Both because the three speak on how they met, and shenanigans that happened but also for what Optimus temporary replacement is like, and what Derioit is going to have to deal with during diplomatic talks.

Then again, it may happen in a matter of minutes if the Elite Guard comes to Earth the same way that in canon they did. Like while, Optimus, Ratchet, and Prowl talk to Ultra, that Bumblebee, Bulkhead, Longarm, fill in the humans, such as Fanzone, and the Mayor. Like the humans are wondering, One this ship that landed is another ship of their species, Second, who are the new Robots, especially the big chined one who is being disrespectful to them.

Third, What do you mean that the Big navy blue and white one is your LEADER???

And, the humans are both in awe and fear of Ultra magnus since the guy is the Leader of the Autobots who's wielding a hammer that can literally control the WEATHER! I think many on the internet and even news media talk on the parallels between the magnus hammer and Thor's hammer from mythology.

I’m reading Missing Perspective by Junipei and OHHHH BOY I CANNOT REC IT ENOUGH!!!! It’s a TFA ShockBee fic but mostly LongarmBee?? its a weird pairing but makes sense in context??? It’s actually WONDERFUL and EVERY WORD has left me completely amazed. Like I can guess how its gonna end cause of the tags BUT THIS FIC IS GONNA KICK MY ASS THE ENTIRE WAY THERE

 I’m close to the end and I think im at one of the big reveals and IM DYING IDK what it is with fics with shipping Bee with Cons BUT MAN ITS SO FLUFFY YET IM DYING FROM THE PAIN TOO!!!

Something I feel like not a lot of people talked about is how well-mannered and sweet Soundwave is (despite being the creepy lovesick ex™️ of Shockwave) in Missing Perspective. He’s still ruthless as a Con don’t get me wrong but there are moments he’s, being oddly considerate? Gentle even, especially with Sari. Him seeing her as his cassette and mope to high hell after losing her in the Golden Lie ending is especially both funny and sad to see. And maybe it’s just me but even the psychological warfare he pulled on Longarm in the sewers, that part I feel like has a lack of true malice in retrospect. He’s only trying to bring Shockwave back to who he was, the pain being an unfortunate but necessary part of the process. And hey they’re cons, violence might as well be part of their love language (much to Longarm/Shockwave’s dismay). Him being turned into a sparkeater is added bonus <3

Anyways sorry about the rant, just want to express my love towards the revolutionist big guy and how you wrote him <3

Soundwave was one of my favourite parts of Missing Perspective tbh. I mean I could have just made him the regular communist he was in canon but then he would have been a monster of the week and I wanted the tension to ramp up ahead of the canon finale because I knew most boys were expecting most of the drama to happen in those last two chapters.

So yeah I thought a lot about how a more G1 flavoured Soundwave would be in TFA and considering the kind of aura Megan was farming and the fact he would have had a relationship with Shockwave I thought a "very reserved with a soft spot for all things smol but will do whatever it takes to achieve his goals without regret" type of guy would work best. Also why the Allspark made him a sparkeater was basically its way of saying "bro you're a parasite I'm making it literal. Don't ask me for anything ever again".

Missing perspective was such an inspiration for me, it got me into writing my own little stories for shockbee and honestly it might have been one of the main reasons I just became obsessed over the pair for like 5 years haha

(mothwave was fun too, I loved reading the mini comics you posted during that time)

Honestly that's the best ending you can get out of any rarepair fanfic when you catch other boys with THE OBSESSION too. Glad you enjoyed the fic anon.

Hi again,

I'm curious on the Director's Cut for Missing Perspective.

Like, is it just a rewrite to make it more readable? Is it going to include the first ending that you had planned and not include the other multiple endings??

You had mentioned before in a post that you wouldn't mind if artists had contacted you, if they were interested in drawing scenes for the Director's Cut, does this mean that you are going to cover other events in transformers animated that weren't covered in Missing Perspective?? Or include events from the comics of Transformers animated, or give reference to them, like the cool comics??

Also what is your opinion on Bumble prime?? Their was a design of future Bumblebee as a prime, that came out, and a comic in the works that covers a season 4 episode that involved Bumblebee time traveling to the future in which he meets his future self in a time that happens after the events of the Unicron wars.

Heyo, so the director's cut might have been 10 years unfinished but yeah the original objective of it was to make it more readable since the primary complaint is that the grammar is like 10 sentences put into blenders. Hopefully I'll get back to writing it but no promises because I got a lot on my plate.

Yeah the artist request was mainly for fans of Missing Perspective to submit fanart of the fic to be featured in its relevant chapters. I was planning to do the rest myself since obviously asking people to make art for free has no obligations.

As for my opinion on Bumblebee Prime man's cute, idk about the design I think he's perfect as is. It's a bit tough to have an opinion on him since there's that missing gap between our boy being a gullible ADHD goblin that got an innocent bot put in jail, and being someone in a position of power like that. He can't just nepo baby his way into the job like Sentinel did.
