Imagine Wukong finding out Luzhen had been retconned out of existence by the celestials because he was destined to bring chaos to the universe and he got really mad and found out Subodhi also erased him from existence (albeit reluctantly) and Wukong storms the court and turns to Subodhi, angrily screaming: "No loyalty, no loyalty, NONE! NOT EVEN FROM YOU! WHERE. IS. HE?!"
Hehehe we've been discussing this tasty au in dms.
A "missing twin/sun" is such a cool concept for Wukong's character. Having him feel as though a part of him is fundamentally missing/has been removed from him.
Luzhen as the Stone Bone Monkey being one too many a chaotic celestial primate for the celestials to deal with... so they got rid of him.
His entry in the Book of the Dead is not just scribbled over (as he and his brother did), but erased. All memory of him fading from the minds of this world.
Leaving only an empty feeling in his elder brother's heart that fails to fade away...
When the Monkey King completed his Journey and was granted a boon by the Buddha, he asked not for immortality or sagehood, but for answers.
And answers he received.
A heaven-wide ruling to erase his younger brother from existence for his perceived "uncontrollability". A ruling that even his first Master agreed to...
A second Havoc shakes the Heavens, and there would be only one way to sate the King's wrath.
The most he is granted, likely aided by his patron Bodhisattva and his pilgrim allys, is his brother - albeit reborn in a new shell.
This Sun Wukong retreats from the world to raise Luzhen in a kinder one. He vows that if Heaven ever harms his twin again, he shall destroy them all.
And they believe him.
