"Haru." Tokaku grumbled, waltzing forward with reason. "I've been told to ask you, to play the 'pocky game' with me." She breathed a long sigh, adding a shake of the head. "Lets just get this over with for Haruki's entertainment." She held the offending pocky stick outwards, awaiting confirmation that the 'game' could commence.

"..."

There are about a million questions here concerning the whats and whys of the situation.  Pocky game?  Isn't that a little, uh... --And since when has Tokaku ever done these things, 'for Haruki's entertainment', on top of that? ...

But, listen.  There's no way Haru's going to turn down a request like this, so just forget about all that.

"Haru calls the chocolate end!"

--It had been a most admirable feat, enough to make one ex-class target grin pridefully as she tiptoed to the kitchen that morning. She'd done what was once thought to be impossible, and that was--slipping past the unconscious eyes of the scary, the terrifying, once heir to the clan of assassins, Azuma of the East...

Hehe. It was fun to think of it like that, as though she'd miraculously slipped past a sleeping lion's den with her life. But it was nothing so silly. Tokaku-san was Tokaku-san.

It was odd to think--not too long ago, Haru would've never imagined that she'd be living with her roommate even after graduation. The apartment was... it was a step down from the dorms at the academy, that was for sure. But now that she had a friend sharing it with her, everything seemed much more comfy.

"... Wonder what kind of syrup Tokaku-san likes on her pancakes," she murmured to herself. With an apron tied over her pajamas, Operation Breakfast was well under way, pan sizzling in the quiet.

Tokaku stood and stared, fingers tightly curled around the hem of the blade she had used against her Queen Bee. It was disgusting… A sworn protector turning against the one she was protecting - mentally and physically damaging her with more than the intent to kill. Why must this happen? She had finally found someone to be close to, to confide in, someone to be understood and accepted by. Why must that be taken away from her again? 

She dropped to her knees, finally releasing the sword and letting it drop to the floor as she watched Haru’s life quickly begin to pour out of her. Her eyes were wide open, heart pounding in her chest. Why could it just have been another unpleasant dream? Tears slowly rolled across her cheeks, teeth gritted in sheer anguish - forcing her body to arch over whilst her hands desperately reached outwards to retrieve her dying friend and pull her into her arms. “I’m sorry.. Haru, I’m so sorry..” 

Tokaku leaned forwards slowly, eventually pressing her forehead against the Queen Bee’s - teeth still gritted. Her voice was hoarse, having a choked up quality. “Haru!” Tokaku cried, the hold on the female tightening into more of an embrace.

--Where was her strength, now?  Where was her spirit, her overbearing will to live? Her body was quickly fading, overcome with numbness.

And with this, she knew, now.  There was always so much about Tokaku that Haru didn't know!  How?  How, how could she leave Tokaku to face her struggles like this on her own?  The last thing she'd wanted to do was become just another chain that held her down, and yet, that's exactly what had happened; she'd left enough doubt between them for this all to occur because of the primer power... Her protector--no, her only true friend throughout this hellish ordeal, to which Haru had dragged her down in herself... just how much had Haru failed to understand about her most beloved person, all this time...?!

And if she'd been better, assured her, helped her, took care of her more... eliminated every speck of doubt... would things be different, now?  But it was too late, much too late for all of that...

"Don't say that, Tokaku-san..." she whispered, using the last of her energy, "Now that... you've proven it all... you're.. free.  It's... it's happy... isn't it?"

A droplet fell onto Haru's skin.  When she'd struggled to open her glossy eyes, she realized that Tokaku's tears were the only shred of warmth left that she could feel in her entire body--the rest, cold, and regret.

"I am suddenly confused as to what you mean,"

"Oh God Haru made you marathon disney films with her didn't she poor you!"

"Let it go Azuma, she'd rope any one and all of us into her movie nights onw day or another,"
