Tim Keller's idea on Walking with Jesus in suffering
Walking is something nondramatic, rhythmic—it consists of steady, repeated actions you can keep up in a sustained way for a long time. There are many people who think of spiritual growth as something like high diving. They say, “I am going to give my life to the Lord! I am going to change all these terrible habits, and I am really going to transform! Give me another six months and I am going to be a new man or new woman!” That is not what a walk is. A walk is day in and day out praying; day in and day out Bible and Psalms reading; day in and day out obeying, talking to Christian friends and going to corporate worship, committing yourself to and fully participating in the life of a church. It is rhythmic, on and on and on. To walk with God is a metaphor that symbolizes slow and steady progress. So walking with God through suffering means that, in general, you will not experience some kind of instant deliverance from your questions, your sorrow, your fears. There can be times in which you receive a surprising, inexplicable “peace that passes understanding.” There will be days in which some new insight comes to you like a ray of light in a dark room. There will certainly be progress—that is part of the metaphor of walking—but in general it will be slow and steady progress that comes only if you stick to the regular, daily activities of the walking itself.
I could write billon words. But this photo says all. Short note on why I participated; God was giving me this deeply internal desire that my health is one of the most blessed things that I have acquired from God, and that it is not mine for to use as how I want to use it. Basically "If I can help by the miniscule amount with the stupid hair that I PAY to get it trimmed, why not just lose all of it? It'll grow back eventually" So this somewhat impulsive act has been such a blessing to me as I've encountered a lot of people who are willing to help the need, my fear for my exterior existence have been washed away, God gave courage to others through my act (which God lead). Thank you so much God for allowing me to wallow in your grace.
What's been happening
Yes for the past couple of days I have been lazy and not posting anything on this blog. But in my defence I've been swamped with various tasks. I'll summarise everything that's happened in my life so far. 1. I shaved for the "shave for cure" and donated to the leukaemia foundation(yes I am bald now) 2. Attended the SGC conference the theme being "the gospel and the Holy Spirit" I'll summarise that tomorrow 3. Finished the promotion video for 'Brand New Day' an event that my church is hosting. 4. My usual servings at church 5. My first proper 'preach' to the praise and worship team.(this was exciting) I'll post in order of these.
Praise and worship
Every Saturday we have praise and worship practice/service. During this time we worship pray and the worship leader does a mini-preaching to the worship team. This week due to the young adults conference, he is out of commission and designated me to lead the praise and worship practice and preach if I can. ( the leader is the mentor that I often mention ) I am planning to share with the group the 'worshiper's foundation' seminar conducted by Gateway Worship. It's practically my first time sharing to the praise and worship team. Let The Lord guide me and allow the team to hear what you only wish them to hear. I am so thankful to The Lord for giving me this opportunity so that I maybe able to share what he has shown me. Let your blessing rain down on earth.
Next week from Friday to Sunday there will be a young adults conference. I was asked to serve for God in this conference as a translator for a day as the conference is in Korean. This is my first time ever serving God as a translator. My mentor gave me a brief idea of how I should approach it. 'Think of it as you preaching to this people, same passion and same idea' So I guess instead of the dull translating I will try to make it as lively as possible(by lively I'm referring to the Holy Spirit being alive). Prayers needed. I'm so excited to meet God in a new environment.
Random Wednesday
So I was just lying down. Read a ridiculous article on Birth Chicken and Death and thought ' hey this can be implicated to the gospel ' Here it goes What's between the alphabets B and D? C So between B(Birth) and D(Death) There has to be C(Christ) What is after D? E,F,G E(eternal life) is achieved through F(faith) in our Only G(God) Some fun with the alphabet.
