I dropped out of high school my sophomore year. I was not in a happy place in my life. I grew up as a Christian, and unfortunately my early teen years I forgot that. One day I woke up from a good nights rest and decided I needed to make a change. I wanted to make a difference even if it was just something small, and I wanted God to be proud of me. The same day I woke up feeling like I needed to change...so I booked a ticket to Port-au-Prince, Haiti. I had two months to prepare, get finances, go to the travel Dr., and anything else I had to do before I took this two week trip by myself. I was able to start a go fund me, and raise enough money to get 11 kids in a local orphanage in Haiti off to their very first day of school. Seeing the faces on those children touched me in ways I can't explain. At that very moment I knew God had lead me to Haiti for a purpose. I was only 16 years old when I went to Haiti, and almost 4 years later I consider it to be one of the very best thing I've done... not only for the people of Haiti that I was fortunate enough to help, but also for myself. When I came back home to New Jersey the smiles on the children's faces when they got shoes and books for school were embedded into my brain. Those children and God have inspired me to become a better person. I got my GED shortly after my trip to Haiti, and now I am in college as a journalism major. I thank God every day for the trip and I thank him every day for waking me up. * * * * #greatcommission #missionstrip #missions #missiontrip #missiontrips #missionstrips #missionstrip2017
