Lucid Dream #1
Main Entry: lucid dream Part of Speech: n Definition: a dream state in which one is conscious enough to recognize that one is in the dream state and which stays in one's memory
I laid on the couch & snuggled under a soft blanket after a long day & decided a nap was necessary before work. Before I knew it I fell into a deep, serene sleep.
The dream was vivid & remembered every detail about it. Normal events took place with people I didn't even recognize. I remembered walking down a street in a city that seemed so familiar, but wasn't exactly San Francisco. I looked to my left & noticed a girl on a fixie bombing a hill, going uncontrollably fast. I could tell she was trying to brake at every light, but she continued to run each & every one of them. It was a disaster waiting to happen.
I noticed another girl coming from the other end of the street, on a bicycle as well, knowing that disaster was about to take place. They crash into each other, head on, & the crazy thing was, neither of them fell. Right after they crashed, the girl on the fixie started riding her bike backwards & stared at me as she biked in reverse. It was almost as if my dream reversed the moment they collided.
I continued to walk through the city & walked up these askew stairs with a beautiful scenic garden. There were patio tables, chairs & benches in random spots & I noticed that the girl riding the fixie was sitting on one of the benches. She stared at me & I looked right back at her & tripped on a step. She rudely said, "Ha ha!" & I replied, "Hey don't be negative just because you had a bad crash."
Then I thought about the crash & how she biked backwards after they collided instead of just falling & crashing. That moment in time, I then realized that I was fully aware & conscious in my dream state. My thoughts became much more clear & my senses were heightened. The moment I became conscious & aware that I was awake in my dream, I freaked out. The dimensions of my dream state were no longer normal & everything around me began to create waves & collapsed. And the strange thing was that no one in my dream panicked, except for me. Everyone else stood still & watched me.
As dimension warped & crumbled, I kept screaming to myself, "WAKE UP!" The steps beneath me continued to deteriorate as I kept trying to climb up to avoid falling into the pits of gravel. Then I awoke.
I awoke with the same intense feelings & my vision still loopy from the lucid dream. I looked at the clock & everything seemed like it happened within 1 hour when it was only 15 minutes of real time. I was intrigued by what had just happened. I've tried so long to lucid dream before & for the longest time I thought lucid dreaming was just being able to control your actions in your dreams. Not even close, because I control my dreams MOST of the time! Maybe not what happens in my dreams, but what I do in my dreams I am able to control. I fly pretty often in my dreams, because I want to, but I wouldn't consider those lucid dreams. That's just me riding out the dream & making the best out of it. That doesn't necessarily mean I'm aware & conscious in my dream state.
But this time, it was a the real deal. A good friend of mine read a book called Lucid Dreaming by Robert Waggoner. He says that a good way to know you're dreaming is to catch that moment where something is out of the norm. Something that happens in your dream, that would only happen in a dream. The first sign my sub-conscious mind threw at me was the girl biking backwards after they had crashed. My sub-conscious mind gave me another chance to catch it & I thought about it again in my dream when I saw the girl on the fixie sitting on a bench. After I became aware, dimensions no longer existed.
There's so much you can do in a lucid dream! Now I just need to learn to control it & find divine purpose for this extraordinary experience.
