25. Favorite line you've ever written: Oh my goodness, Ihave no idea. I tried to go find something and realized I would be spendinghours looking through stories. The only thing I can think of is Mycroft'swedding note to Sherlock and John in Breakable: Congratulations on your formalisation ofsentiment.

49. Writing advice: I am full of writing advice but let'skeep it simple. No one's writing comes out perfect the first time. If you readsomething that seems smooth and clean, it's because the writer worked reallyhard to make it that way. So this means that if your first efforts areterrible, don't worry—just keep working at it. But also remember that if youkeep working on something until it's as good as it can be, more people willwant to read it than if you just post something without really trying to polishit.

Oh heavens, thank you for playing–I want to answer all three, but as I seem to be unable to write ANYTHING without appearing as though I’m being paid by the word, for the sake of Brevity I’ll pick one for the moment:

3. Name 3 favorite writers

So hard! So many to choose from! So many takes on the question! But here goes:

Stephen King: The man is an American treasure. He has SKILLS. He does things with words that are both elevated and accessible. Because he’s a wizard like that. Even when I don’t adore the entirety of the story (which does happen, the man has a huge body of work) I am always a little in love with the execution. He has written passages that are still stuck in my head years after reading them in print. He does words good. (side note: When I was in junior high, one of his stories freaked me out so badly that I took my Dad’s entire library of King books and hid them in my closet because it was like if they were out in the open THEY WERE LOOKING AT ME AND IT WAS SCARY! I’m told I was an occasionally exhausting child.)

Beautiful_Fiction: Her fan works were amongst the first of the Johnlock ‘classics’ I read, and I most identify with her cinematic style as a writer. She paints with words, setting scenes and revealing backstory organically rather that relying on straight exposition. Loving her work helped me discover the courage to write my own stories. I’m so grateful.

Carol Ryrie Brink: This pick is based SOLELY on the fact that she wrote the Newberry Award winning plucky pioneer girl coming of age book “Caddie Woodlawn”, and it was the first novel I ever picked out and read all on my own when I was in second grade. I remember being enchanted by Caddie and her world, and as I watched the remaining page count dwindle I vividly recall feeling so sad that the story would soon be over. I already knew books were wonderful, but reading that book taught me that it was magical–that there were nearly infinite worlds that lived between paper covers that I could explore and fall in love with. That book will always have a very special place in my heart.

Black bean soup can also absorb some pumpkin puree--I've got some of that in my fridge right now. No noticeable flavor difference, but a vitamin A boost, I guess!

Nice! I’ll keep that in mind. I just saw these ‘pumpkin pie’ kits (honestly it’s two pumpkins and spices) at the store and bought three then roasted all six pumpkins and just, *hand waves* I’ll freeze it for later. But I did make a batch of pumpkin soup yum

passion fruit: I have a style? Most of my clothes are thrifted or come from swaps b/c rapid shrinking and clothes are $$$. I am a big fan of office pyjamas (jersey skirts and dresses with leggings), but I like a pair of tailored trousers and a button down as much as the next wlw. Jeans and tees and a sweater or flannel in the winter on my day off. I run to lazy femme most of the time, but hard femme or high femme if I’m going out. 

star fruit: my favorite sea creature is a sea otter.

fic writer's ask meme: 6, 10, and/or 18, please?

I had my answers to this like 75% written out last night, then my computer was dying so I plugged it in and got distracted by other things, then just now when I reopened it tumblr crashed. So boo.

6. fic you’d recommend to someone new in the fandom?

This is going to be an unexpected choice, I know - most of the zimbits fics that came to mind are in the top like 3 pages of fics when you sort by kudos, and most people read those fics first anyhow, so it seemed silly to mention any of them.

So instead, I went with a *gasp* Kent-centric fic (with only background zimbits) - Scar Tissue (That I Wish You Saw) by sysrae, which could also have been one for the other question about making you see a character differently. I mean, I’m still not really giving canon Kent the benefit of the doubt until we see more of his story for real, but this fic gives him a believable and messed-up backstory and a chance to heal. And a really hot and awesome boyfriend (yes, it’s text, but he’s described as a cross between Diego Luna and Daveed Diggs, I mean, really).

The only reason I even read it is because sysrae was one of my favorite destiel authors, and is one of those rare fic writers that I trust with almost anything, even topics I normally steer clear of.

18. a detail you’re really proud of putting in one of your fics

OMG, this is hard because I spend so much time researching stupid little details that no one cares about. But then I’m like ha, I totally nailed that tiny random factoid even if nobody ever notices. In general, I’m especially a stickler for geographic accuracy - I’m constantly staring at maps of wherever my fic is set, and often find real restaurants, etc for them to go to.

In The Breath Before the Phrase I got to go a little crazy with that, because I’m from Kansas City and have spent several years living in Chicago. Cas’s apartment is literally in the building across the street from my sister’s old house (this is never specified in that level of detail, but I know that it is and that’s enough), and anywhere that I have him walk to, for example, is walkable from there. And the path he and Dean take when wandering around their first night together in Chicago is also real. All locations are real, real, real. So I guess that, IDK.

Looks great regardless, but I know how weird it is to look in the mirror and see "wrong" hair, or reach up and touch it and not feel what you're expecting. (My hair is thick and curly enough that people rarely want to try, but it's happened once or twice. Weird, weird.) Love your glasses, btw!

Thank you! And yeah, it’s just... odd. I don’t mind it, but it’s very disconcerting to go to run my hands through it and have it be.... smooth. Lol
