#JackedKirby - A Panther, a Midget and a Princess walk into a tomb... 💥💥💥 This fantastic series of pages comes from #Issue4 of Black Panther which was published in July of 1977. Jack’s Black Panther adventures in this series are really unlike anything ever done with the character before... it’s not the typical jungle adventure or action series that BP was known for. It’s a weird hybrid of Indiana Jones type treasure hunting mixed with intergalactic alien sci-fi and a bit of African mythology all rolled into one. And it is done fantastically, both from the writing and art prospective! 💥💥💥 This series of pages shows Panther and his two accomplices, Mister Little And Princess Zanda, as they are trying to escape the treasure rooms of King Solomon’s Tomb. Mister Little tells them that their only chance of escape would be to traverse the underground tunnels using the legendary Flame Chariot... 🔥🔥🔥 The three jump in and begin their journey through the tunnels in a fashion similar to Indy & Short Round in Temple Doom about a decade later. The Panther is trying his best to pilot this antique chariot, but the real surprise comes when they bust through the exterior wall... and the Flame Chariot opens its wings!!!! They fly off to safety... and their next adventure! 💥💥💥 The use of 6 panel grids for two pages to illustrate the journey of the chariot from various perspectives for the first two pages (pic 1/2) are perfect to show how dangerous this trip is... and the final page (pic 3) utilizes a half page splash to portray the sheer power and energy of the Chariot bursting through the mountainside and into flight is perfection. Perfection that only Jack could be count on to find in his layout choices time and time again! 💥🔥💥 #JackKirby #KingKirby #Kirby #BlackPanther #Wakanda #PrincessZanda #MisterLittle #FlameChariot #Comic #Comics #ComicBook #ComicBooks #70sComics #ComicsOfThe70s #igcomicfamily #igcomiccommunity #igcomics #ComicsOfIG #HalfSplashPages #JungleAdventures #MarvelComics
