You like the way Yoongi holds his cigarette. Fingers loose, like he doesn’t care, but there’s a need in it too—like if he lets go, something more than just the cigarette will slip through his fingers. He’s only nineteen, but he carries his age like it’s something heavier. 

His raven hair is a mess, thick strands falling over his forehead, framing those eyes—deep, distant, angry.

He leans back against the cool metal of the rooftop, letting out a slow sigh, smoke curling around his lips, forming an O. You watch as he weighs his answer to the question you asked, like it deserves contemplation, like it needs a deep thought. 

This rooftop is yours. Your secret. Hidden beneath the canopy of a sprawling tree. Your bedroom window is the gateway to this spot, and just across the way, beyond the thick branches, his window mirrors yours, making this his spot too. He can climb up with ease, slipping into your world—where he has always belonged.

But tonight, he’s everywhere but here. His gaze roams—over the starless sky, the quiet streets below, Marlboro reds between his fingers, but never settling on you.

“So? Do you think I’m pretty?” you ask.

He exhales, the smoke drifting toward you, tracing your face, caressing your throat. 

It smells like burnt paper, like earth, like rebellion. Like unspoken words dragged into his lungs, only to be released into the wind like freedom.

So much power in something so small—a stick that kills thousands, yet rests between his fingers like it's nothing.

“I like your brain, I like your personality,” he says. “Guys would be lucky to have your attention.”

You let out a breath, but it isn't a relief.

“But do you find me pretty?” you ask again. Because you’re sixteen. And when you’re sixteen, it matters to be pretty. Because somehow, it feels like your worth is tangled up in the answer. 

His answer.

He takes another drag, the ember flaring, burning, before he lets it go. “Yeah,” he says finally, his voice rough. “You’re pretty.”

And then he looks at you. A little too deep, but also a little too quick. And then he pulls away, before that lopsided grin takes over. 

That grin.

His hand ruffles your hair, and you huff, pushing him away, because you don’t believe him. 

Not really. 

But it doesn’t matter. Because he’s him. 

You’d follow him anywhere—even through the very gates of Mordor if he asked.

Even though that sounds more like something he would say than you.

Your Aragorn.

He flicks the cigarette away, ember extinguished against the concrete.

And in the silence that follows, you flick something too—

the hope that one day, you might stop loving Min Yoongi.

Your first love.

also trying to see if this format’s clear- telling their past stories first, then cutting back to the present…
