"Oh, it's not a problem. Please, let me help." Mitch's gaze followed your movements, as you helped set the table while Stan finished cooking one of his most famous dishes. As you neared the table to place the utensils, Mitch couldn't help but grin at you. You smiled back, getting closer to him while placing your hand on his shoulder to lean down and peck his lips.
As you went back to the kitchen to grab more things, Rapp decided to stand up, wandering to the same room to ask if there was something he could assist with. Stan gazed at him, nodding his head while you went back to the table.
Mitch Rapp noticed the look Stan and Irene shared. "Y/N, has anyone shown you around this house?" She rolled her eyes. "Or whatever this is." You couldn't help but laugh at her comment, shaking your head. Whirling around, you glanced at Mitch, who nodded his head.
As his eyes followed your figure until you disappeared from the room, Stan decided to speak while his hands were busy cutting some pieces of beacon. "Are you sure?" His eyes were focused on cutting the pieces without wounding himself. "Like, completely sure?"
"Yes," He didn't hesitate to reply, knowing what his mentor meant. "Never been more sure."
"It's gonna' be a huge change, you know." The oldest man decided to place the knife on top of the cutting board, turning around to peer at Mitch.
The first time Irene brought Mitch to him, he truly wanted to kick his ass. Mitch Rapp had an attitude, being too confident on himself, not being able to look out of the picture and overly trusting his abilities, which weren't sufficient. But that confident boy became a man who knew how to use not only his abilities but also his brain.
Stan was proud of Mitch Rapp to the point where he wanted the boy to have the happiness he deserved. And it seems like that harmony had a name, Y/N Y/L/N.
"You know, Mitch," Stan smirked, and before he could say anything more, Rapp was already chuckling, knowing that his mentor would say something stupid. "It starts like this, man." He crossed his arms over his chest. "Then, you have to put a ring on it. Next, they want a golden retriever, and then you see yourself waking up at 3 in the morning because your third daughter is screaming at the top of her lungs to be feed." He chuckled, shaking his head.
Mitch bit his lower lip, ignoring Stan while getting closer to his jacket, grabbing a black box and going back to the kitchen. He gave the object to Stan. The oldest man's eyebrows were furrowed as he grasped the box, somewhat opening it. Hurley's mouth was wide open.
The younger male coughed. "I was thinking of a labrador retriever. But to be honest, I love all kinds of dogs." He laughed as Stan didn't seem to know how to close his hanging mouth. "I bought this box a couple of months ago." He swallowed, biting the inside of his left cheek. "But I'm terrified to drop the question."
"Terrified?" The box was pushed against his chest. "I've never heard those words coming out of your mouth, Mitch Rapp." He observed the boy's bottom lip tremble. "The Mitch Rapp I know throws himself into the most dangerous situations because he KNOWS he has the skills to defend himself and the ones he fights for."
"It's not the same." He snickered. But his expression became sour. "I'm terrified that as soon as I place that ring on her finger, something or someone will take her from me." He noticed the fixed gaze of Stan on him. "And yeah, I will always have what happened to Katrina in my mind. I loved her, and she meant so much to me." He paused to take a breath. "I pushed Y/N away so many times because I thought I had to be lonely all my life. I felt like I was cheating on Katrina."
"But what." Stan encouraged him to continue.
"But Y/N was there for me. She never made me forget Katrina, telling me she was important to me and that she understood that I was keeping a picture of her in my wallet." He sighed. "She never pushed me to get over Katrina, and when I wanted to look back, I noticed that I was falling in love with Y/N. And I wanted things I never did." His hand went to his hair, tugging on it tenderly. "I wanted to marry Katrina, but I didn't have more plans from there onwards. But what you just said about the house, and a dog, and a weeping baby that I will love with all my heart. I want that, and I want that only with Y/N."
Stan nodded his head, placing his hand on his shoulder. "Not going to lie, Rapp." He squeezed him. "I was mad about losing such a great agent. But I was hoping a day would come where you had something to live for. You were living for revenge and hate. Now, you have someone to live for." He heard footsteps coming closer. "You are going to get out of this dangerous world because you desire to be with her." He smiled at him, noticing how the boy sniffed, trying to hide his tears. "And I hope that baby comes here every day to see their uncle Stan."
Mitch laughed. "Then, do you think I should do it?"
"Do what? Marry her?" The man continued cooking. And even though he wasn't glancing at the young boy, he knew that he was nodding his head. "You better do." The young boy went closer as he saw you and Irene coming back to the living room, which was connected to the kitchen. "You better do, Mitch Rapp."
The night was lovely, and you enjoyed Stan's cooking, not believing he could be such a wonderful chef. You were telling stories related to Mitch, which made the boy blush while his chair shifted closer to yours. His right arm around your shoulder as he pulled you closer to his body before kissing your forehead. Irene's eyes shone as she watched with delight how in love the both of you were.
And even though Stan Hurley was smiling while listening to your stories, he couldn't help but notice how much you comprehended Mitch. The young boy would twitch his nose whenever he was spacing out. Whenever his mind would be filled with intrusive thoughts. Stan saw the way you stopped talking for a couple of seconds, noticing that your boyfriend's gaze was lost. He observed how you whispered his name, your hand squeezing the hand that was resting on your shoulder, snapping him back from those thoughts. Then, you kissed the corner of his mouth before continuing with your tales.
Mitch grinned at you, moving his gaze around the table until he met Stan's eyes. The man nodded, encouraging the 'kid' to marry that woman. "She's the one for you." He whispered, and your soon-to-be-fiance didn't hesitate to nod his head.
Mitch Rapp had a dream. A dream that he wanted to share with you; a labrador retriever and a beautiful child.
Mitch was sitting outside Mama Hanna’s house thinking. Benny didn’t hurt his Uncle Vinny. He felt bad for the way he came at Benny, but Benny needed to hear that. Benny needed to hear that though. Benny doesn’t listen. Mitch did tell him not to get involved with his family.
On one hand he didn’t feel bad but on the other hand he did because Mama Hanna would be an innocent victim in her son’s bad decisions. Mama Hanna that woman was a saint and yet both her children were so damn ungrateful. Mama Hanna helped raise Mitch since he was a young boy and she has always treated her like one of her own.
Mitch got out the car and closed and locked it. He walked up to the door and rang the door bell as he waited for somebody to answer it. A few minutes later the door opened and he was met with the smiling face of Mama Hanna.
“Hey Mitchell. Come on in. I was just making lunch.”
Mitch walked in the house and waited for Mama Hanna. She closed the door and locked it and walked in front of Mitch to the kitchen. Mitch followed behind her. Mama Hanna went to the stove and turned over the fish in the pan. Mitch sat in the chair and folded his hands as he watched Mama Hanna cook.
“Is everything okay Mitch?”
Mama Hanna asked as she checked on the yellow rice.
“Uh yea. I uhm. Benny, I know you heard about the man in the bar?”
“Yes, the one he got arrested for. Why what happened?”
“That man was my uncle. Vinny Malone.”
Mama Hanna turned off the two burners and waited for Mitch to continue.
“Benny wanted to return the money he burrowed from my family. Which I told him not to burrow and when I found out about Vinny, I blamed Benny. I told my family they were out for vengeance.”
Mama Hanna retrieved a plate and rinsed it off before putting the Fish and Rice on a plate with a fork and handing it to Mitch. Mitch said thank you as he said grace and started to eat. Mama Hanna fixed her plate and grabbed her fork as she sat down. She said grace and started to eat her food as she looked at Mitch.
“Am I in danger?”
“When my family attacks they attack hard. I don’t want you to be in danger though.”
“All because of my dumbass son?”
“Yes ma’am.”
Mama Hanna sighed heavily as she felt tears well up in her eyes. Mitch got up and knelt down in front of her as he rubbed her arms up and down in a soothing way.
“I’m sorry Mama Hanna. I’m really sorry.”
Mitch felt like shit as he looked at the crying woman who became like a mother to him over the years. She took him in. She cooked for him. She did things his biological mother ain’t do.
“What do I have to do Mitch?”
“I don’t know Mama. I don’t.”
Benny walked in the kitchen and seen the interaction between his ex friend and his mother and felt a tinge of jealousy. Mitch looked at Benny and stood up and went back to his seat to finish eating.
“Why you here?”
“I’m here to warn your mother that my family is coming after you with a vengeance and their is a possibility she can be a casualty.”
Benny looked at his crying mother and his stomach churned. It was never his intention to put his Mother in harm’s way but it seemed like with every decision he made that’s what he did.
“Get your mother somewhere safe man. I know we on bad terms but I love your mother like she was my own. Get her to safety because when my family hits they going to hit.”
Benny looked at Mitch and Mitch looked at Mama Hanna who’s usual bright eyes were now dark. Benny went to his Mother, his own eyes teary eyed as he looked at her.
“I’m sorry Ma. I should have listened. I’m sorry Mitch. Just give me a week to get Ma to safety.”
“It’s not up to me Benny. You should have listened. This takes good Mama. You were supposed to teach me how to cook.”
That caused a small smile to make it’s way on Mama Hanna’s face. Mitch smiled back as he continued to eat and look at Benny. Benny needed a way out of this but he knew him listening was a big reason this was hitting hard. He kept his head down as he prayed. For the first time in a long time he prayed and he just hoped God listened to him.
Mitch was standing outside Mama Hanna's house with sunflowers in his hand. He needed his family back. He wanted to come home to hearing Treasure singing along to The Backyardigans.
He wanted to hear his son's little voice. He wanted to see Lainey in the kitchen making them dinner and helping their daughter with her homework.
He knew he fucked up. How can he tell his family no? Before he met Lainey they were his family. He couldn't turn on them. Him not turning on them is why he is without his kids and woman now. His actions cause his family to be put in danger.
Caused Candace to think she was important to him. He ran a hand through his hair and took a deep breath. He was about to make his way up the steps when he saw Caleb stepping out with Treasure.
As soon as Treasure saw her daddy she let go of her Pop Pop's hands and ran to him. Mitch placed the sunflowers down on the ground and picked his little girl up. He squeezed her tightly as he felt his heart lighten up a little bit.
"I miss you Daddy."
"I miss you too Princess."
"When we coming back home?"
Before Mitch could answer Caleb spoke up.
"Baby girl, do me a favor and go ask grandma if she wants anything from the store?"
Mitch gave Treasure a kiss on her cheek and put her down and watched as she went back inside the house. Caleb stood in front of the door and just looked at Mitch. His brown eyes staring a hole into Mitch. Mitch felt uncomfortable.
"Have you lost your damn mind?"
Caleb asked Mitch.
"Look, I didn't mean for harm to come their way."
"No, you shouldn't have been fucking with your family to begin with. Especially knowing the kind of people they are."
"But they're my family."
"Your family is inside that house. Your family is Lainey. Your family is Treasure. Your family is that baby boy. When all else fails. Who's going to be there for you?"
Mitch stood there and listened to the older man talk. He knew Caleb was right.
"I told you, when you started seeing Lainey do not hurt her. Do not make her cry. And you did the complete opposite. You put my grandchildren in danger. Now I have come out of character."
"I know sir, but I didn't..."
"You didn't what? You didn't think? I know that. My granddaughter is afraid to go to sleep at night afraid she's going to get hurt. She stares at her baby brother afraid that he won't be there any more. Lainey cries when she thinks everybody is sleeping."
Mitch licked his pink lips as he felt his heart shatter. His decision making him feel like a damn fool. His eyes welled up with tears.
"You got my wife in there writing how she's going to curse you and Benjamin out at the same time. Cause he wanna be stupid and follow you. I will say this let a muthafucka come around here and cause harm to the people in this house. I will kill you and your whole family. That's not a threat that is a promise."
Mitch seen something he never seen before. He seen Caleb's brown eyes turn cold and a shiver went through his whole body. Treasure came back outside and had a list and $100 in her hand.
"Here Pop Pop."
"Thank you baby girl. Give your Daddy a hug and then we can go before Grandma puts me on punishment."
Treasure made her way towards her daddy and Mitch bent down to her height and wrapped his big arms around her.
"I love you Daddy."
"Love you too Princess. Be good."
"Okay Daddy."
Mitch let Treasure go as Caleb made his way towards the pair. Treasure grabbed her Pop Pop hand and they walked off. Mitch let the tears fall freely as soon as they were out his sight.
Mitch Rapp, one of the C.I.A's best assassins after he turns to avenge his love Katrina after she is killed by terrorists. He makes sure his feelings are in check, keeping it professional. But can he keep up his facade when he is faced with his new case lead, Angel Holloway?
Part 1
Mitch
I walk down the bleak white corridor, the sound of my black trainers as they hit the floor echoing against the walls. I bring my left arm up to the height of halfway up my torso to read the time on my black digital watch. 08:58 It reads, two minutes until I'm due in Hurley's office for the debriefing. Dropping my arm back to my side, I keep my head down and look at the long hall through my black lashes, my eyelids hooded over. It's been over a year since we've been assigned a new, real operation with an actual lead. Lately, it's been a bunch of dead ends or fake leads and to be completely honest, my boredom is leading me to insanity. It's all about the wait. The wait for the inevitable police fuckup, letting people go through with mass corruption that we have to fix. Mentally rolling my eyes at my own thoughts, I reach Stan's office and I let myself in without knocking, revealing him and Irene quietly discussing and sharing sighs, with a random girl on the screen of Stan's monitor.
"Who's the girl?" I ask to the both of them, slinging myself into the spare seat next to Irene. The hushed conversation fizzles out and Stan clears his throat before formally answering my question. "Her name is Angel Holloway. She is-" I cut him off quickly, knowing what he is going to say. "As in the Holloway drug bust? I thought we had no leads for that." I lean forward, knitting my eyebrows together in confusion. Stan looks at me as if I'm the most stupid person on the earth. He sighs and pinches his nose, slowly sinking down into his seat behind his wooden desk. "Well we didn't have any until we found her Rapp. If we had a lead when I said we had none then that wouldn't make any sense would it?" Rolling my eyes I await for him to continue on what he plans on doing. "She's the head of the rings daughter. Currently attending Stanford university studying computer science. I want you to head down there and find out what she knows Rapp. Find out everything. Where her parents are, where all the product is, everything. You leave at 0930. Dismissed." He sighs, swishing his hand through the air with a small flick of the wrist dismissively. I give a small nod before exiting the room through the door I came from.
A thousand questions pop into my head all at once. Why have we only just found her? Is she really connected? Has she been hiding all this time? Knowing I'll only have to wait to speak with her to find out the answers I so desperately want, I push the questions to the back of my mind and get ready for departure. Half an hour leaves you plenty of time to grab an extra change of clothes and your special weapons carrier in case she really is involved. If she tries anything, I thought, I'll shoot her on sight. Admittedly, I have gotten colder since, the incident, but that's what makes a good assassin. A rogue one, but a good one nonetheless. I lack emotions such as sympathy, guilt, and fear because why would I fear dying if I have nothing to live for? Why would I feel guilty for ridding the world of evil murderers and criminals? Why would I feel sympathy for those who do not show sympathy themselves? But having the lack of those emotions is enough to make anyone go crazy. And for me, that is a dangerous thing.
Sooooo let me know what you all think! Should I continue this or leave it as a one part thing? Reblogs and likes are always appreciated! ♥
