The Pace Report: "The Unbroken, Swinging Miss. Austin" The Tiffany Austin Interview
Welcome to another edition of The Pace Report featuring the NYC debut performance and official record release of jazz vocalist Tiffany Austin. Her second record "Unbroken" (Con Alma Music) is produced by legendary Grammy-Award winning producer Richard Seidel and features a list of 'A-list" musicians including Cyrus Chestnut on Plano, Ashlin Parker on trumpet, Mitch Butler on trombone, Teodross Avery on tenor saxophone, Rodney Whitaker on bass and Carl Allen on drums. This LA native has been on the music scene for well over a decade. In addition to performing in Japan to working on her chops as a vocalist she came back to the US to pursue her law degree. But singing was still her calling and hasn't looked back. Her latest CD "Unbroken" features some of her own original songs as well as puts a new and fresh spin on jazz standards like "Con Alma," "Better Git It In Your Soul," and the gospel spiritual "Keep Your Eyes On The Prize." I sat down with Tiffany after debut set at the famed Birdland Jazz Club in NYC to talk about her latest album, how she chose the musicians for this recording and her famous brother, Rass Kass.
