All American: Homecoming taking Spencer’s antagonist to Bringston is a twist I didn’t expect but I don’t hate it. Cam is Spencer’s frenemy more than he is an actual enemy because he doesn’t actually hate Spencer and Spencer doesn’t actually hate him. There’s still a bond between them. In three whole seasons, Cam has never attempted to hurt Spencer in any way. We’ve seen other characters trying to hurt him but we’ve never seen Cam purposefully trying to sabotage him despite being his antagonist, he’s never tried to come between Spencer and his opportunities, he’s never even laid a hand on him. He just wants to compete with him. I’ve always liked that about their relationship. Unlike these other football players putting their own insecurities on Spencer like it’s his fault they’re not as good, Cam is literally the only one who doesn’t. There’s really more points against Spencer and his Beverly Boys friendships than his relationship with Cam because what has Cam ever actually done to him? Nothing. He could be talking shit to him all day but then he’s running to the hospital when Spencer got shot because he’s family... like they got a weird fight on sight confrontational energy but I was always into it.
