( SOREY — HE WAS A BEAUTIFUL SPRING & SHE WAS A DEADLY FALL )
i. HE WAS BEAUTY INCARNATE & SHE WANTED TO PROTECT THAT // sorey is an actual cinnamon bun & rose knows that. there are times where his naivete is so obvious & rose can’t even believe this boy is real. but he is, so she doesn’t want his hands to be sullied. rose doesn’t mind getting dirty for him. lurking through shadows, covering herself with blood — she’ll do anything for sorey to retain his white light. shadow cannot exist without light; she could not live without sorey. not anymore. he matters too much & she genuinely believes only he can actually save the world.
ii. SHE LOVED HIM AS IF HE WAS HER OWN BLOOD BROTHER // i wanted to say platonic soulmates because really, that’s what i believe they are. i want to believe they were always fated to become friends because they fit each other so well. it’s not a match — because they’re not the same. at all. but rose matches sorey because he balances her cruelty out & she balances his optimism out. they’re more than friends; they’re basically a family. she would risk her life for him because she knows he’d do the same for her. they were always meant to be friends, really. i might’ve said soulmates but don’t take that romantically; i don’t ship rose or sorey at all. not even remotely.
iii. ACCEPTANCE IS THE DEFINITION OF THEIR RELATIONSHIP // let me get one of my biggest gripes about rose in the game out: like almost everyone forgets she kills people in the game. like the developers introduced a lot of stuff & then drops it like a hot potato the next scene. but i would bet everything that sorey accepts all that stuff about rose, anyways. he sure as hell doesn’t condone it, but he acknowledges that everyone has different ways to handle a situation. they may have different goals on their mind, but they’re walking the same journey — at least, for now. to rose, that acceptance means everything. the best part is that sorey never presses, never pushes unless he absolutely has to. unfortunately, that also means we get situation like — hey, no one told rose about her body being susceptible to seraphim influence. but hey, live & learn.
iv. HE TOLD STORIES THE NIGHT STARS NEVER SPOKE // i’m in love with the idea of sorey talking rose to sleep. not because it’s boring — though that happens a lot too. but it’s because sorey tells rose bedtime stories. tales of the past, fantasy or historical. maybe some of them are even completely fake & some are partially spiced up just to amuse rose. i want them to exchange nightly talking when they’re the only two there because the other seraphim have taken refuge inside of sorey; sometimes they occasionally chime in — lailah gasps dramatically or mikleo, being mikleo, just has to correct sorey & sorey has to say, ‘i’m trying to make it more dramatic!’ & mikleo would say, ‘there’s no point if it’s not accurate.’ those nights, rose gets the best sleep she’s had in a long time ( mainly because sorey would actually let her get a good amount of sleep whereas her normal schedule requires her up at godawful times always ).
